didn't disclose to this employer yet, because as of now my license is

Hey does this graph indicate that etg can be found in HAIR??? Am I reading this

right?

Does this mean that the value of 2400 that I was accused of, that I believe was

NOT my

urine, could maybe be clarified if I gave them a hair sample? Cause if it

wasn't my urine,

then you wouldn't see it in my hair right? Or am I just wishfully thinking?

Cookies and pastries are NOT soft or mushy foods. You can chew them up

fairly well, but you'll still be left with a wad of dough...and I'm

pretty sure they are not on your list of allowed foods. It is VERY

important that your band does not move while it is healing. That is the

reason for the liquid and soft food stages.

Stop immediately and go back to your list of foods. If you are still

hungry, eat something else on the list. It is the consistency that is

important.

One more question...why are you having Italian pastries delivered to

your house? This time is about you healing and starting your

new " banded " life. Remove the temptations! You can do this!

Fairly gentle admonishment below.

As already noted, cookies aren't soft things. I suppose chocolate might be if

you let it melt in your mouth, but it'll still likely get stuck.

All soft foods! I feel like when I do eat a

>meal (like soup) that I can easily drink the whole thing. I have been

>picking on these italian pastries that were delivered to my house all

This is a very tough time of the year (yeah, I just had two pieces of fudge,

even though I'm VERY tight in mornings....they just sort of melted in my mouth).

But as already mentioned, you need to learn to NEVER have that kind of crap in

your house. If there isn't any " bad stuff " around you're much less likely to

eat it.

Don't worry about how much soup or other things that the doc has on his " soft

list " you're eating. This is a time for healing, not for losing. You may lose,

and that;'s fine, but don't worry about it at this point. Yeah, we all want

instant results, but this is real life, and nothing is instant. After all, you

didn't gain the weight overnight, did you?

HI

When I realized I was selecting the wrong food chices I went running

to a dietitian/nutritionist and a counselor. I suddenly realized

that I had this gift of a wonderful band, but still was trying to

manipulate it solely to eat crap. I needed help.

I had tried to get this help in the past, but always failed, along

with failing every diet I tried.

The band was my last hope for feeling better and helping myself.

I bucked up and accepted that even with the true gift of a band,

that I still needed to work at and participate IN this Journey!!

I am down 70 pounds and no longer headed toward disability!

I will always like food, but it is just not as important now.

Regards,

Diane

Not everyone stays on it their whole life. It's up to each individual and their

doctor. Lexapro works well for many people for anxiety and depression. I've been

on it over a month and have had no side effects. It's done me a lot of good.

Doc.'s want me to take Lexapro. 10mg for the first two weeks and then

I think I can control it w/ my attitude on my own. Maybe I'm wrong.

Well, first of all, if this was me, I'd be asking my doctor to try and find the

underlying cause of the 'heavy-head'. That's not normal if you're getting

adequate sleep and there are no other overt physical problems or symptoms.

Throwing a drug like Lexapro at it isn't going to help IMO. Lex, in some people,

can make the tired problem even worse. Celexa, the parent drug of Lex, turned me

into a zombie.

If you're not getting good sleep then that would be the first problem to deal

with. Once you're rested the panic feelings may go away. If not then that's the

time to look at something like Lex.

The Lex may control the feelings of panic. It may not. But it makes more sense

to find out what's causing this to begin with first.

Some people have to stay on an AD for life. Others not. It's very individual.

Your doc could be setting you up for a whole host of other issues by using the

Lex to treat what seems to be a sleep problem. Yes, there are sides. It varies

greatly from person to person though. If one has alot of trouble with a certain

AD then others need to be tried.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Your panic is secondary to a sleep problem or

issue. If the sleep issue is treated the panic should go away. It makes no sense

to treat the symptoms of a secondary issue before addressing the primary issue.

I take 10mgs for dep/anx and it helps a lot. If I have

times of high anx.then i just up it 1/2 a pill until

the times are gotten through. Counseling could be a

good addition to help with the reason(s) for the panic

attacks and then they can be worked through and

hopefully you'll be able to get off the Lex. I don't

think everybody has to stay on Lex. for life.

You're welcome! :-)

Good idea. Just be aware that most of the over the counter sleep aids contain

Benadryl. So don't double up. It's an antihistamine. It makes me sleepy but it

also makes me groggy the next day. I'm sensitive to drugs like that. It may not

be a problem for you.

If your sleep problem includes not being able to stay asleep the over the

counter meds will be of limited use.

Trazodone? Seems like an awful powerful drug. Maybe he's looking at the dual

effects?

http://www.drugs.com/Trazodone/index.html

Why not one of the newer sleep meds? There's one that addresses both falling

asleep and staying asleep.

This is has been ongoing for 9 months so you may need medication til you become

stable. But when you come off the meds then what? Will you go back to where you

were before? The sleep issues which seemed to have precipitated the panic

attacks, that is. These are some things I'd like answers to were it me.

I think I'd do a bit of research on prescription sleep aids as well. There are

so very many options.

Anxiety is a funny thing. It can be caused by many different things. Lack of

sleep being a good one. Mine was caused by: No idea other than a chemical

imbalance; possibly exacerbated by severe, prolonged stress. Love the catch-all

term of GAD.

Colleen, Doug --

I've come to the conclusion that if I take Lexapro my

entire life it's a heckofalot better than the

alternative.

My mom will be taking BP meds all her life, and a

friend heart meds all her life, and yet another one

epilepsy meds, so what's the bl@@dy difference?

Best to you all,

I have two meds that I'll take my whole life. One is for high blood pressure and

one is for low thyroid. I'll take Lexapro as long as I need it. I'll see how I

feel when I retire and don't have to work anymore, in five years. I may also

feel a lot better after my son graduates from high school. I'm tired of fighting

with him about his homework.

I thought it may be the sleep thing b/c I have twins that are up a

lot and have been for the past 1.5 years. I get really irritated in

the middle of the night. Its been stressfull. YOu think Trazodone

is stronger then the lexapro? I traveled to TN for work over the

summer and felt great = no kids, good sleep, different environment.

I remmember feeling like crap driving down, but driving back was no

problem.

Why can't they diagnose this? Seems like such a guessing

game..... " ahhh, we don't know what is wrong, but take this and see

what happens. "

I can't help but be stubborn. I think I can beat it w/out any

pills. I'm also diabetic, 10 years, but don't think that is coming

me more problems in this area.

Exactly! And for some of us this is a lifelong thing. May be for me as well. I

don't know yet for sure. I was told there's nothing wrong with me mentally or

emotionally. Mine is a simple (*snort*) chemical imbalance.

I'm assuming you've got good control over your diabetes?

I don't understand GP's. They can be so stupid sometimes. The sleep issues need

to be addressed first. As you stated, you were fine when you were getting

adequate sleep. That should be the lightbulb over the docs head. It seems at

this point that it would be easy to DX. Why they want to throw these kinds of

drugs at it without dealing with a basic sleep issue first is beyond me.

Re: Help

Thanks. I'm going to try the counseling as well.

Who would you see for this?

I have decent control over the diabetes. Always could be better, but my theory

is I have to live life as well.

I took an over the counter sleep aid last night. Half a dose - whipped my

butt. Wife said I didn't move all night long when I usually toss and turn. She

had to check to see if I was breathing...lol. Anyway - feel a little better

today. I'll take again tonight to see how it goes.

Thanks for you help!

Barbara,

I totally understand what you mean about finding out what the underlying factor

is about not sleeping. Along with my anxiety and depression, I had horrible

insomnia for 6 months. I had to go to work, do household chores, be a wife, and

care for my elderly mother who is legally blind and has vascular dementia. It

was the most horrible thing not being able to sleep. But, there indeed were

underlying issues I had with my family that were not resolved and were getting

worse in my mind. My psyche would not let me sleep. Not until I talked very

frankly to my therapist about some unpleasant things I though I could resolve on

my own did the sleep start to come back. I couldn't even sleep with Lunesta or

Ambien or Trazodone. It was that bad. It seems that many times what is deep

inside us needs to find a way out and when it does we unburden ourselves and

healing can begin.

Re: Help

Barbara

Help

My name is Doug, I have had " heavy head " feelings for the past 4-5

years, and Doc.'s chalked it up to not sleeping well. I just lived w/

it.

I had one of these sensations while giving a presentation, resulted in

a panic attack. This was 9 months ago and continue w/ problems.

Doc.'s want me to take Lexapro. 10mg for the first two weeks and then

20mg for 3 months, is that a lot for someone w/ mild(what i call)

issues? I'm scared of it's effects, withdrawals, etc.

I think I can control it w/ my attitude on my own. Maybe I'm wrong.

What about counsling? If you start Lexapro, do people stay on it their

whole life?

Please help.
