We went to see a geneticist too. This is still in progress but the initial

visit they asked lots of questions and verified she had BPES by her traits and

will get blood samples to see if her gene is broken or missing. If it is

missing, it could mean other things are affected like her fertility later, etc.

They measured her eyes, did extensive family tree questioning and looked her

over.

They said it is very hard to distinguish between Type 1 and 2 of BPES.

We are the ones who have seen Dr. Cole and I will get my step daughter to

recap the surgeries. I know one they took a skin graft from her thigh and used

it

for her bridge of her nose and between her eyes. when she was about 11. She

has had about 5 or 6 surgeries i think.

Once again, we are so excited to hear

about Dr. Cole. We are going to see

him in November for . She is 6 months now

and I¡Çm not sure when anything will be planned. Could you give me a quick overview of

the surgeries your daughter had? I

would love to go in prepared. We

are also seeing Dr. Mark Codner today. I know all the information I get from

this group will help in asking the right questions to the doctors. We are also ready for database

information when needed.

On another note, our pediatrician has

referred us to a geneticist. Has

anyone been to see one, and if so, what exactly will they be doing? is

pretty small for her age, has a very small head circumference and my Dr. just

wanted to check things out. I am

only 4 foot 10 inches so I¡Çm not really expecting a giant. We have two other girls that are also

very petite.

THANKS!

I can definitely recommend Dr. Cole of Atlanta. He is

the number one surgeon

for BPES in the Southeast and did my daughter's

surgeries. She is 15 almost 16

now and had her last surgery this past

summer. She is gorgeous.

Hello,

I have problems of infertility, but my gene FOXL2 is not missing. My

gene is almost complete, but it is appearently not sufficient.

Genetists don't know exactly how to determmine type 1 or 2. They only

know that if a big part of FOXL2 is missing, women can't have a baby.

But when a small part is missing, like in mine gene, they don't know.

I want to telle you that not all people who have BPES have a mutation

in gene FOXL2.

But every people who have a mutation in this gene seem to have BPES.

I hope your daughter will not have these problems.

Good luck because the results are very long to have.

Welcome Beverly. I'm a from NJ, one of the moderators of the group.

I've had arthroscopic surgery done to my knee many years ago when it first

was developed. A few years ago, I had both knees replaced and they are now

almost normal. Here is some info on arthroscopic surgery:

From American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons:

From Chester Knee Clinic:

From the Arthritis Foundation:

I hope after reading these articles, you'll have a better idea of what to

expect. Feel free to ask questions. We have a group of very knowledgeable

members that have had a lot of experience.

Hi there,

If you want to read stories about those who suffered from saline implants, you can go to our files section and read all of our stories there. There is probably at least 2 dozen of them. One thing you have to remember is that saline implants are made with silicone outer shells, so everything that you have heard about the silicone gel implants applies to saline ones as well. In addition, saline implants have an added problem, and that is the trouble with fungal and bacterial infections, which can allow mold and mycoplasma bacteria to grow inside the implant and around the valve. It is pretty nasty and can take your health down in no time flat.

Here's the link to our stories:

/files/Implant%20and%20Explant%20Stories/

As for all the hollywood actresses that seem okay, the truth may never be known about what they are or are not dealing with....most of them are not going to put their careers on the line by speaking out, and they have the money to get expensive alternative treatments to help them when their immune systems get whacked out. However, some of those actresses have spoken out. Mariel Hemingway, Blair, Sally Kirkland, Leigh Young are just some of them. Another actress, McDonough, formed a foundation to help spread the word to other Hollywood women. You can see it here:

http://www.intheknow.org/

Sally Kirkland's can be seen here:

http://www.sallykirkland.com/pages/institute.html

Hope this helps. Don't be deceived...implants are not safe, and though some women seem to be able to have them without exhibiting autoimmune disease symptoms, I don't believe the human body can withstand that kind of assault from a foreign object for years without suffering in some way in the end.

Hi everybody, I am 21 yrs old, 5'1, 95lbs and a size A....I am naturally small everywhere so having small boobs isnt really a problem, and my fiance likes them, (but would like me to get bigger ones) but before I had my child I was at least able to manipulate them into forming somewhat of a cleavage, and now I can't even do that...I don't want big boobs, I just want decent ones, I want to have saline implants, so I started researching yesterday and now I'm really scared about it...but then I realized I was reading the silicone implant stories, and I've only seen a couple anti-saline stories, I did read postitive stories to, but I'm still scared of getting sick after putting them in...what about all those celebrities who've had them, they seem healthy to me, and so...not everybody gets sick after these right?....What do ya'll think...Thanks

Wow I definetly seem to be going more towards not getting them, maybe

I'll wait and see if they ever come out with something better to

improve your bustline and won't harm your body, even though I could

be health for awhile after getting them, I don't want to be sick

later, I hate being sick.....For now I think I'm just going to try

hard and gain weight cause those will grow a little too :)

hi there -

trust me, there are plenty of anti-saline people out there and I am one of the many. Sakine implants produce very similar health issus as the silicone stories you have been hearing about. no matter what the doc says, the fact is that the shell is STILL silicone. Your body will have the same adverse reaction to it as it is made of the same material as the silcone implants. The "saline water" has the potential to get really gross - if you look at a pkg of medical sterile saline the shelf life is months if kept around 75 degrees. Put it into a 98 degree body for 10 years and bad things happen. saline implants are actually worse than silicone as far as repeat surgeries go - leakage and capsular contracture. I had a total of 4 operations. I was implanted at 24 - I am 33 now and just had them removed last April. Please go to the files section and read our stories before you make a decision - most of us here are Saline victims. they have ruined my health - I was tiny like you before implant - 5'2", 105 lbs. I was a AA and wanted boobs for the same reason as you. I never liked them - being so small in the first place you could always feel the implants sloshing around and they were hard and uncomfortable. after implantation in 96 I was back in in 97 for another operation for capsular contracture then again in 99 for a complete deflation for no reason. I wish I had removed them then. You are so young and have your whole life ahead of you - please do the research before you make such a major decision. i thought that if I didn't like them or they made me sick I would just remove them and I would be ok. that was not the case. You end up with overwhelming doctor bills and you have insurance trouble. Some of the diseases you get from these are permanant! Lupas, Fibromyalgia - there are no cures. I am living a life in constant pain because I didn't know better - you have so much info available to you to make an informed decision. - dom't make one based on what your doctor says. All they want is your money. your best bet is to talk to as many women you can that have them - all the girls here will be very helpful to you. please read our stories and links as there is a lot of good info available. I will answer any questions you may have - just ask!

good luck

Sweetie, I'd give my right arm to be 21, 95 pounds and healthy. If I

had it to do all over again I would definitely not get saline breast

implants. Those " safe " saline implants stole my health and I'm just

now in the process of taking it back.

I started to notice I was getting sick 3 months after I was implanted

and I progressively got worse. After 4 years and many doctors, I

found this group and found the truth. I had my implants out in

December. They were severely contaminated and were definitely the

source of my illnesses.

Be happy with what you have, your youth, your health, your beautiful

body. I'm just imagining what you look like because at one time I

was 5'4 " and 95 and also an A. All my life I was teased by boys,

girls, adults, even family. I always got the stupid jokes like " When

God said Breast you thought he said Rest and you took a nap " . Funny,

huh? If they only knew how much stuff like that really hurt. I was

so jealous and thought they must be happier because they have them.

I might have enjoyed my big breasts for a few months. It was fun

shopping in the " women's " bras instead of the girls! But when the

pain, fatigue, brain fog, all set in, who cared? I had breasts but I

was too sick to do anything enjoyable. I cringed when my husband

would touch them because at first they had no feeling, then they had

a heightened sensation to where a slight breeze across them would be

painful, then when they settled down and I could stand them being

touched, I was in so much pain in the rest of my body I still

couldn't enjoy them. They literally have robbed me of 4 years of my

life.

Keep your youth and your beauty. Buy some cute push up bras and just

smile at yourself everyday knowing that you're beautiful exactly the

way God made you.

If you're still not sure, make sure you go to the files section and

read some of our implant/explant stories. Kacey and were very

young when they got theirs. Kacey is only 21 now and fully disabled

from her " safe " saline implants. She's recovering like the rest of

us, but it takes time. 's doing awesome. I just had mine out 2

months ago and I know I'll be improving soon. If you want to read an

old lady's story,(I'm 38) mine's there too under Pam's story.

Good luck with your decision.

Pam

Please read my story under 's letter to Oprah! I was 19/20 when I got them, researched them as best as I could, and got them! Smoothg saline "safe" implants. It was terrible from the get go. Although I looked decent, I couldnt sleep on my stomach, felt funny when I ran , worked out or was intimate (always knew they were there totally) But it wasnt until I got realy ill when it started bothering me,I was 26 -NEVER SICK IN My LIfe and diagnosed with HAshimots thyroid dsease, and Rheuamotisd Arthrits, and was also tested for thyroid cancer, and also multiple Sclerosis.None of this runs in my family.....

Almost all symptoms that reaked havoc on me the last 2 years of the total time of having them for 9 years went away since explant. My old docs are shocked.... I also gained weight w/ them and let me tell you I was working out all the time. To get them out was hell. I had to travel all the way to Georgia from Illinois. And it took over 6 hours to get them out, scraping and pulling. And now I have scars. And to look decent, but had to travel to someone great who knows how mend things up. Please do not get them! Run, Run , Run. You will de disfigured without them, why do it. Please read my story. I am 28 and Im telling you, I was on my way to dying. Infections, stroke like conditions, joint pain, auto immune illness, even suspected cancer. look into it. Give yourself 3 months of researching, then decide. You are worth it......

Welcome Silently,

You'll find a lot of answers here. I would say implants are not safe for anyone. Are you willing to risk your entire livlihood: meaning ability to think, walk, work and be in constant out of your mind pain. No one would. Listen sweetie, and I'll write you again but I'm in a hurry now. Even the salines have a silicone outter lining, and the girls are reacting the same way as they would to silicone. A girl here just put them in Dec o3 and is so sick already. Look at 21 year old Karey. Keep writing, keep reading. But please don't do it. I have nothing to gain by telling you this, only the satisfaction of saving someone's life! Love . May God be your guide. Men are greedy and only want the money. we've ALL BEEN DOOPED (Fooled)silently06 <silently06@...> wrote:

To you ladies, thank you for having this site, where at least I get

responses, I have already decided not to get implants, I think God

gave me a sign yesterday when I started to do research on this,

because it was after I submitted an application to have them financed

through that breastaugu.com thing, and guess what, they just called

me here at work, they told me I had been approved, but I couldnt

really talk cause I don't want other people to hear me here at the

office, but I'm going to call them back and tell them I'm not

interested....I'm going to keep my body just the way it is, and I

think this site just saved me!!...Hugs for everybody, another sucess

story, lol.....I wish a speedy recovery for all of you suffering,

you'll be in my prayers....Love Frances

I want you to know that I am so sick right now that I cannot live a

normal life, let alone a life at all.

I got my implants almost 3 years ago and right now am trying to find

a way to get the money to have them removed.

I have been ill for over a year now and I wish I never would have

gotten them. My life right now is awful and I know that no one would

want to feel this way. Please don't do it!! I know most people will

tell you it's your choice but please make the right one.

HI. I just wanted to say that you have been led by God to find this

site and He has blessed you with the wisdom to decide against

implants! I am so thankful! I had saline implants for 11 years

before getting explanted due to illness. I am doing much better

now! But I will always wonder how well I could be now or would have

been had I not ever gotten the implants in the first place! Like

you, I was--and am again--a double A in a padded bra! I hate not

having breasts, but it is so unimportant in the scheme of things to

me now. It is amazing how losing your health redefines your

priorities. Besides, you could fix your breasts and then have

something else happen to you that you can't fix! I had c-section 14

years ago and Iabsolutely hate the long ugly scar I have. I also

have several stretch marks from my first pregnancy. I realize that

I really can't fix those and I will have to accept my limitations.

My husband does. I am the one who has trouble accepting what I

don't like about myself. I guess that is where most guys are

different. They truly seem more oblivious to their physical

faults. ANd studies have shown that men seem to think their wives

are far sexier than the wives believe themselves to be. We think we

are too fat and too flat and on and on. They just see this sexy

woman. All I know is that I have had 2 wonderful husbands (my first

husband died) and both of them thought I was just great looking.

Unfortunately I never thought I measured up as a woman because of

being so very flat and I jumped at the chance to change things.

Even though it felt great to feel like other women, I always hated

those blobs on my chest. They didn't feel real to me, and my

sensation was forever altered. ANd I don't care what the doctors

say, many, if not all breast implanted women look artificial. They

are too round on the top. and the flatter you are, the more like a

ball stuck on your chest is how the implant will look. I thought my

implants looked ok from the front. But from the side, my breasts

didn't slant like most breasts. Anyway, congratulations on a

decision well made!!

Hello. My name is Stacey and I live in southwest Florida. I used to live in

a five year old, upscale apartment complex. After three years of living in the

apartment I had health problems mounting up beyond belief. My biggest issue

was that I could not breathe. I literally felt like I was suffocating to

death. I had headaches so bad I think a gunshot to the head would have been

easier to deal with at the time along with many many other health

complications...all at the ripe old age of 31 through 34. No doctor anywhere

could tell me

anything around here other than I probably was going through to much stress and

experiencing anxiety which they said was the reason I could not breathe.

Then my second garage used for storage filled up with mold 3 inches thick

including the inside of my car. This was caused by a leak in the apartment above

the garage. I hired inspectors for the garage and when they arrived, they

asked me if I was experiencing any health problems. I asked them if they had a

couple of weeks to listen and they asked me if I had ever had any leaks in my

apartment. I told them about the mushrooms growing our from my carpet and

wall and they said they better do the apartment too.

To make a long story short, you can feel free to view the links below and

also I am attaching my photo albums for your review. The news videos have a link

to watch the actual clips from ABC Action News which tell the whole story.

You will need to click on the little red " watch video " box below the picture

in the upper right corner of each link. I am including the photoalbum links

below my name.

Stacey,

I looked at some of your photos. Your skin fungus problem -- was that

diagnosed as vitiligo? I recently was diagnosed with vitiligo, and it looks

similar, but not on my back. Do you have it anywhere else? Mine doesn't itch

or

anything, it's just a loss of pigment. I can't help but think mine is caused by

mold exposure, but there seems to be no way to prove it (at least that's what

my doctor says).

Hi Bonnie:

The skin fungus I had was labeled as " tinea versicolor " by Dr. .

After moving out of the apartment and 30 days on Sporanox, it all totally

cleared up. I am estatic about that. Yes, it was slowly spreading to my legs and

thighs before my diagnosis and treatment. Now it is all gone. I can't believe

how much of a mess I was in that apartment. Now that I am out of there, things

are much better, but my immune system is trashed and I live with the

aftermath each day. He prescribed IVIG therapy for the neuropathy which also

rebuilds

the immune system, but I do not have insurance. Anyway, thanks for taking a

look at the photos. Anything I can do to enlighten others an raise awareness

to this devastasting epidemic of mold exposure, I am happy to do.

Stacey
