Hi Judy,

I know how you feel, when I tell my doctor about something that is

happening he will just look at me and say " That means the medicine is working

but your bloodwork is looking good so keep it up " it makes me want to ask if he

has ever been through this treatment. Right now my Hep C is showing as

undetectable but I still have to complete the treatment and I'm down to my last

9 weeks. I still have alot of days where I'm sick and very lonely, I get alot of

support from my family but they don't feel the same way that I do so they don't

know.  Right now I'm getting ready to go to stay at my mom's for a couple weeks

because my daughter is getting married in a week and a half and still has alot

to do, plus I don't care how sick the medicine makes me, I will be there even if

they have to prop me up some how. LOL.

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving, I had three and still have

enough

left overs for another one but I'm glad it's done I'm totally wore out and

stuffed.

Goodnight to all and God Bless

          Sheri

The best thing for a doctor who seems unimformed is an informed patient. Go to

www.hcvadvocate.org. Look for 'questions for Your Doctor " . Asking the doctor

questions will get him/her researching to give you answers, if not....Fire the

doctor and get another one.

most CFS specialists would do it without asking but everyday doctors probably

wouldn't...

Hi,

I am hcv positive, dx'd in 2002.   Baby boomers have the highest rates of hcv,

though older seniors are very underdiagnosed.

The screening test for Hep c did not come out until 1992 so you might be at risk

if you have had:

A blood transfusion prior to 1992.

Shared needles for intravenous drug use (even one incident) years ago

Shared straws for inhaling cocaine

Had body piercings or tattoos with nonsterile equipment

Had hemodialysis

Had frequent exposure to blood products (due to hemophilia, chronic renal

failure, chemotherapy, organ transplantation, or any other reason

Had a needle sticking incident (health care workers at high risk)

Used an infected person's toothbrush, razor, or other item that had blood on it

Engaged in high-risk sexual behavior, such as having multiple partners and using

no protection

I would urge everyone to get tested.  Hep C usually has no symptoms until it is

advanced.  I probably contracted it in the early 70's from IV drug use, but did

not have any symptoms or  problems until 2002, when I was diagnosed.  BTW, I

had extreme fatigue when I was dx'd.

I've been using 3 mg. Low Dose Naltrexone, along with supplements and diet to

treat my HCV and have had great results.  Viral load dropped from 2 million to

11,000-44,000 and liver enzymes normal.   I chose not to do the current

interferon/protease inhibitor treatment and am waiting for the

non-side-effect/100% successful stuff down the line.  But I plan on taking LDN

for the rest of my life.
