You know your absolutely correct! I guess what I said on a previous message

was just the intial shock of all of this. I am and have always been a

fighter, and there is no reason to give up now. I am making a firm

committment to my self and my family that I am going to do what ever it

takes to stick around. This is a life altering thing but it doesn't have to

be for ever. I have had a lot of feed back today from several members of the

group (and its only been my first day)! I will talk to y'all later. Gotta go

Hi LaDonna,

Thank you for sharing - especially the information

about your husband and family. I felt so bad in the

beginning, I had just started a relationship and it

was such a relief learning how hard it is to trasmit

hepC in a mognogomous longterm relationship. I cherish

my life so much more today - don't take for granted

much anymore and I'm so grateful for my health and how

prescious each day really is. So in some odd way I

feel blessed by having hepC. It was a real wake-up

call for me - guess part of a series of them... ha.

I understand how hard it is to stop drugs and drinking since I had major

problems with both I was drinking 2 fifths of gin a day at one time and

my idea of a beer was a 12 pack a night and on my days off over a case

of beer. I did drugs to but stopped that when I was in my early 20's so

I do know how hard it is to stop.

Now I don't even like to take an asprin. I just don't want to see you

reuin your health like I did mine. How I wish I would have come to my

sences many years ago but I know that until your ready no one can tell

you otherwise. I just hate that my kids grew up seeing me drunk all the

time I know they must have been ashamed of me. I am glad that I stopped

drinking at least the last years of my mothers life she did not have to

see me with a snoot full she told me once she use to cringe when she

would see me drive up to the house because she never know what condition

I would be in!

I hope that I did not offend you with my e-mail I just don't want anyone

to have to go through what I did. I can't believe my liver is not worse

from all the booze I drank my biopsy showed my liver to not be to bad I

have my biopsy report but can't understand all the big words.

I wish you luck and will pray that your health remains good.

"You don't have to Die from this dreaded disease"

I wish this was true. I do believe everyone should do what ever they can to make themselves as healthy as possible.

Sometimes though, there is not much some people can do. Some find out to late, they have this damn disease and there are NO TREATMENT OPTIONS, for them.

Eating right and exercise and DRS. visits, Herbs, they help but at some point not enough for some people.

I do not mean to be a downer here, but I have a Husband who does not have the options many of you have.

From this dreaded disease he has also developed many other health problems which have affected him greatly. They have taken years from him before his time.

To all of you who are still drinking and doing drugs, please try and get the help you need to stop. You are only making your life even shorter. You are not giving yourself a chance for something better.

To those of you on Treatment I wish you all the best.

To those who can go on it at least try.

I wish you all the best. I enjoy reading the posts and once in a while I do write back.

Regarding sexual transmission. I found this a few days ago.

..1.5a SEXUAL TRANSMISSION

The risk of sexual transmission of hepatitis C virus has not been thoroughly

investigated but appears to be minimal. Some studies have shown no risk of

passing hepatitis C on to a sexual partner, others have shown only a very

low risk. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

(CDC), as well as the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control do not

recommend a change in sexual practices for those engaged in a long-term

relationship with one sexual partner. However, people with acute illness and

multiple sexual partners may be at greater risk and should use condoms to

reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting hepatitis C as well as other

sexually transmitted infections. The risk is increased if the HCV positive

partner is immunocompromised because the virus titer in the blood may be

increased under those circumstances. Sex during the menstrual period should

be avoided, due to the blood contact at that time. There is also some

speculation about the possibility of transmission piggybacked on the genital

herpes virus through genital lesions.

The reason that many studies say " multiple sexual partners " when referring

to the risk of sexual transmission of HCV is that people who have multiple

sexual partners have a greater risk of contracting other sexually

transmitted diseases which can cause open sores and lesions. And with those

open sores and lesions you are at greater risk for blood contact. Also, it

is thought that the hepatitis C virus tends to " piggyback " on the herpes

virus, and if you have herpes you are at much greater risk of contracting or

transmitting the virus.

According to a report in the Archives of Internal Medicine, sexual

transmission of HCV occurs at a rate of about 1% per year in at-risk

partners, and shows that periodic serum immune globulin prophylaxis for

sexual partners is protective.

Transmission of the virus " ...occurred only in partners of HCV-infected

patients with active liver disease, " the researchers report. They add an

" intriguing " finding that patients who became infected during the study were

older and had longer relationships with their partners compared with those

who did not become infected. - Arch Intern Med 1997;157:1537-1544

A report from Health Canada, " Hepatitis C Prevention and Control: A Public

Health Consensus, " June 1999, p.6, recommends that:

1. People with multiple partners should practice safer sex.

2. Longstanding sexual partners do not need to change sexual practices if

one of them is found to be infected with hepatitis C

A recent study in The Lancet, 356:9223:42-43 (June 2000) detected the

hepatitis C virus in the semen of infected men. The doctors concluded that

" the presence of HCV-RNA in semen is a strong argument in favour of HCV

sexual transmission from men to women. " However, HCV viral loads detected in

semen were low, which suggests that the risk of HCV sexual transmission is

probably also low.

Dear Pat,

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you, but I know that most

people think the way you do because they do not know any better or

anything else that actually works. The majority of people do not know

of the existence of therapeutic essential oils let alone understand

how powerful and successful they are (even when people are on their

last legs). European doctors routinely prescribe them over drugs.

They are NOT like herbs or vitamins or drugs (they are at least 100

times more powerful). If someone is so bad off and doesn't have long

to live I would send them to the clinic in Utah. I personally know a

woman who went there in July with two forms of cancer (basal cell

carcinoma-very aggressive and leukemia) (I know it's not hep-C but

shows how powerful the stuff is). She was literally dying on the

drive down and only had a matter of weeks to live. She was only at

the clinic two weeks. She is now the picture of health and doing

wonderful. So there are options if you want them - (I believe the

clinic is cheaper than the hospitals in the US).

Bill, My dad had/Has Hep C, and thanks to the new Pegulated interferon,

there is no sign of Hep c now in his blood tests. Your story seems kind of

set up. Your Testimony seems a little superficial as well. Can you fax a

copy of your results both before and after to me?

As far as the " drug Cartel " it wasn't getting rich. The Pegulated

interferon treatment was free since he had been chosen as one of the few to

be able to try it in the USA. Anyway, that's my thought. I'm afraid I

opened the flood gates to take a hitting from the rest of you. Oh well.

Hello to the group,

Just to let ya'll know that I am doing just dandy. My blood work is now down

to 42 (from a whopping 379!!!!!!) My doc still wanted me to have a biopsy

but forget it. Not cutting me open and doing more damage. From all I have

learnt I know that what I am doing will even reverse my liver damage and

regenerate it. Ya'll need to look into this is you are really serious about

truly wanting to get better - what have you got to lose, except your life!

It can only help you and certainly will not harm you.

Thank you and Dina for giving me this life saving info which changed

my life and gave me hope.

Hope you all realize that the crap from the drug cartel is making you sicker

and keeping them rich (if everyone got better they'd be out of business so

duh, its not in their best interest to find a cure, or tell you of one

especially a natural one).

Hello everyone. Just checking in to the group. I want to send a hello

to all that responded to my message sent in my first week with the

group. My husband and I are going through a sort of hazy stage right

now. I have come to learn within the last week or so that my husband

has HepB. I have also learned that I had HepB but my body fought it

off and will not contract it again. I am totally confused. My

husband also has HepA (which is contracted through food like oysters

and such) So he has A and B and I have C. This is just overhelming.

According to my doctor I most likely contracted B from him. The

question in my mind regarding this now is why did my body produce the

antibodies to HepB and his did not? Does anyone have any answers? I

know that HepB can be transmitted through sexual contact but can HepA

be transmitted. If so, how? I have been referred to a Infectious

Disease Specialist, but in the mean time I am having a worse time now

dealing with this than I did last week. At least then after getting

off of the group site I was sort of uplifted. Now I feel liked I

just got kicked 4 feet deeper than I was. HELP!!! MESHIS

Hello Peggy ,

The first thing both you & your son have to do is calm down- take a deep breath & just relax. You are in the right place - there are lots of caring & slightly crazed people hare who have the answers to all of your questions .

There is no reason for anyone to fear touching , kissing or sharing table wear with a person who is hep c positive . The virus is blood borne so there has to be blood to blood contact for the virus to pass from one person to another. This can happen occasionally during sex but it's not common. It's always smarter tho' to stick to "safe sex."

You say your son is 23 - do you have any idea how long he's had hep c ? I was infected in the late '60 s when I was using i v drugs & I wasn't diagnosed until 1994 . Most people don't find out until they've had hep for a long time so it sounds like your son is one of the lucky ones - there are treatments out there that work best for people who haven't had the disease long so his chances are good . He needs to find out which genotype of hepc he has (genos 1a & b are the hardest to treat) & what his viral count is . He also needs to know how his liver is doing right now - the doctor will do Liver Function Tests - Tell him to ask for copies of his LFTs from the doctor , then he can keep track of how his liver is doing . He should also ask his G P to refer him to a specialist - either a gastroenterologist or a hepatologist, these doctors treat those with hep c all the time

Peggy, I too have Hep C , cirrohosis, and cancer of the liver. The

difference is I dont have any symptoms, pain, or tiredness.Hep c affects

everyone differently. The itching Im very aware of. the DR. say ive had Hep

c for 20 years now. I never new I had it.write me back soon if you want to

hear more.

i am very disturbed and emotionally upset. i just got news that my 23

yr old son (my only son) has the heb c virus. he has already been

diagnosed with the virus. hes going through all the jaundice,

tiredness and itching phases. he has a 2 month son whom is afraid to

touch. i would love to have some suppot from you people concerning

hep c. peggy
