I don't want to sound like I am not about natural remedies, because

I am, but if you do not see a marked difference in a day or so...

Please take him to a ped. MRSA is nothing to play with and spreads

quickly once inside the body. It usually takes a combination of

antibiotics to get rid off. You did say it was his stomach right?

Or at least have a swab done to see if it is MRSA just to be on the

safe side. You have gotten a wealth of info and I have also learned

some great advice too. I just got over a long bout with cellulitis

from the elbow. Hope all is well soon!

Blessings!

Hi, Twila and welcome to the list. There are many stories here, you can check

old posts to get some background info if you would like. You can jump right in

and share your stories and ask any questions you might have. There is a lot of

info and support here. I am sorry to hear of another child with JA but you have

found a great resource. Where are you located and how long did it take to get a

diagnosis? What treatments is your rheumy trying?

Welcome! Michele ( 23, spondy)

If it is MRSA I have used a very potent garlic product which I purchased from Rxclub America.  I have not found this product anywhere else.  It is the only thing that has gotten MRSA to go away.  Let me know if you want to use it.   Pat

Sound input, but just to be balanced here - if I were going to see any allopath,

I would opt for a family practice dr. They are usually much less interventive

than a pediatrician.

Also - everyone responding to this just seems to be making the assumption that

the antibiotics are waiting in the wing, " Just in case. " My kids are violently

allergic to antibiotics - one of my kids ended up transported in an ambulance to

the ER in anaphylaxis just from eating farm raised fish (which are soaked in

antibiotics).

We've had several episodes of anaphylaxis in our family directly as a result of

exposure to antibiotics. These drugs are not necessarily a good last resort if

other remedies " don't work. "

Natural remedies usually take longer and need more patience, too.

Antibiotics should only be used (by anyone) as a life saving measure. If this

had been the case since their development, then we would not see the ridiculous

rise of superbacteria, antibiotic resistances and allergies.

Thanks Terri,

I just suggested the ped because of his age and I so do understand

being nervous with that... so  maybe a family clinic that could do

send it off to a lab was what I meant, to be sure and only if you

didn't see a marked improvement.  I was also concerned with

location.  MRSA is a drug resistant strain of Staph and  it is

spread by contact.  The hospitals don't even want to treat in

patient unless it is lung or brain because of the contagiousness.

So you know that's not good.  I'm sure it is probably not it but

like I said it wouldn't hurt to know one way or the other.  Thanks

for not making me feel stupid for being concerned.

Keep us posted and here's to a fast recovery naturally!

you're so where I'm at with antibiotics---if I could just tame my fear. I, of couse, don't want to find ourselves in a critical situation. My child has not had one since he was 13 months old and he's almost 10. That antibiotic wasn't necessary and made him ill but I had only part time care of him at that point(full custody/adoption came a little later)or he wouldn't have had that one. My oldest who is now 31 had dose after dose of the junk by the time he was 10; I trusted our doctor with his repeated ear infections. His appendix burst when he was 11 and was misdiagnosed for 3 days. At day 4 we refused to leave the E.R. without an answer. He was full of peritonitis from the burst. In the hospital 10 days following surgery AND NOT RESPONDING TO VINCOMYACIN DRIP---that's still the strongest available

today. The surgeon told me under no circumstance was he take an antibiotic for 5 years; he was completely resistant. They've known the potential for this for at least as far back as 1990. I also believe antibiotics are responsible for all the resistant bugs that keep crawling out of the woodwork.

I'm washing with an oregano solution, applying a silver gel and powdered antibiotic, giving silver orally. But I'm always up for adding to the arsenal. I'll try to find this product. As always when we use natural remedies getting them NOW is a challenge.

I am penicillin resistant due to the over usage when I was a child.

The first 7 years of my life were spent under a vent for pneumonia

and from what I'm told it was touch & go. So when my kids came

along I was overly cautious to the doctors & prescriptions.

Thank God they were hardly ever sick!

Then my super healthy kid got Leukemia at age 19 10 years ago &

lost 8 years ago. Which had a direct relation to benzene. Just

this summer the conv/gas store up the road was fined for old leaking

tanks that had never been removed but new ones placed about 5 years

ago. I live on a water basin. But back to the antibiotics... They

should never give unless absolutely necessary!
