They told me they had sent the tablets out, but they never

arrived. They took my money and only my Visa Credit Card server managed to get

them to repay me the £90.03 they had taken. I seriously would NOT recommend

anybody to start using this company. So far Angel, you appear to have been very

lucky.

sure where I would stand legally if I did that Gill - but I do give out

warnings when my members or myself get stung and give the reasons why I would

seriously suggest we don't use them. This company used to be on my recommended

list, they are no longer.

US. Not everyone can do them, smaller incision, only on inside of knee

replaced, longer lasting, more natural walk than with whole knee replacement.

This is all from the Company so they may be a bit bias. But it sure sounds

sounds right from what i read too. my previous surgeries were what excluded

me. I already had an incision on both side of the knee. he waivered and

finally said no, too risky that the incision wouldn't heal, too tight etc.

now i have franken knee with a long scar up the middle and the two old ones

on the sides.

I also searched this yesterday and skipping over the companies own pr I found

this site:http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT00699257

and my concern would be why the study was terminated. It doesn't make sense that

they would spend the money on this and terminate if results  were good.

Of course I'm not an expert on this subject but I would do some more research if

I were considering this option.

Do you mean numbness of the front of the thigh? LOL

It's a very common side effect of the anterior approach and I don't

think obesity has anything to do with it as there are thin people who

also experience it.

I have it and it doesn't affect my strength or mobility -- just feels

a little odd at times when fabric moves against it. Since everything

else works great and I got my life back, I don't spend too much time

thinking about it.

There isn't anything one can do as nerves regenerate slowly -- if at

all. FWIW, my operation was in March 2007 and the margins are VERY

slowly retreating -- at this rate maybe in 10 years or so it might be

completely gone -- or maybe not.

Meralgia paresthetica of the lateral femoral cutaneous - I was treated for it

before my THR.  There is a surgery that's performed (town Univ. has a

plastic surgeon who specializes in nerve damage who said I was a candidate). 

But, you can try pain management for it...it's a series of 6 shots.  I went

through 4, but when the pain returned, the doc stopped them. 

 

I'n obese, too and the ortho told me the fat is soft tissue and unlikely to

aggravate the meeralgia.  Usually if you wear very tight clothing, like a belt,

under the belly, that little nerve will get damaged. 

 

I'm only 6 weeks out after THR, still mending, but so far, I'm much better with

the nerve problems...almost totally numb around the incision, but I expected

that.

I would be traveling alone again (just me and a dog ) so I am wondering how much help is needed for daily living in the early days, especially if I have the minimal arm tightening where the scars are near the arm pit. I lost about 100 pounds so I don't need have as much hanging skin as some folks. I am a teacher and have a week in March and am wondering if a week is long enough before returning to work after the girls are back where they belong and maybe the arms are tightened up a bit. I teach algebra in high school and have technology that lets me keep from writing on the whiteboard (no more chalkboards even here in rural

Arkansas). Will I be able to get in and out of the contraption that keeps the girls in their new position. Will they look and feel natural with the implants (after many years I am finally dating again and while that aspect is down the road I am wondering now instead of after it is too late. I look good in a bra no overhand front, back or sides...but naked horrifies me. Is spring break feasible or should I wait for summer, or next Christmas? is problely RT3 which builds up in the body, my take on this maybe binding by

auto-antibodies. or maybe to much cortisol. I could be wrong but many in the

group may no if it is RT3 or maybe the adrenals. but which is up to you to

get tested for all of them.

He is probably more likely to call it a conversion problem. The same

enzyme that converts T4 to T3 is responsible for removing RT3 by

converting it to T2. So, if that enzyme is weak, you have both reduced

T3 and excess RT3. The result is the same, normal T4, T3, and TSH, but

persistent hypoT symptoms.

RT3 can ONLY be made from T4. To make it from T3, you would need to

first attach an extra iodine to make it T4 again.

Hi

- what part of Dr Peatfield's paper does he state that rT3 can be made

from T3? I think Dr P would be very unhappy to know you were giving out

wrong information about what he says.

T3 is what is made when the " wrong " iodine atom is removed from T4,

it's a " mirror image " molecule to T3 and is not bio-active. This in

itself is not a problem, the problem is that in excess it " fits into the

T3 receptors " and gets stuck there blocking the action of T3 on the body.

This means that your body doesn't respond properly to T3 leading to

hypothyroid symptoms despite a normal TSH and normal T3 and T4 levels in the

body. This is what we refer to as " Tissue Resistance to Thyroid

Hormone " . Doctors will tell you this is rare, it is not, it is common, but

doctors say it is because they don't look for it!!

What

Dr Peatfield says is:

" You may remember that in order for thyroid hormone to

work in controlling our metabolism it has to be converted from the basic,

precursor hormone T4 to the active hormone T3. You will also remember that the

amino acid thyronine (which is made by two tyrosine molecules coming together)

when combined with four iodine atoms is how thyroxine is formed (which we know

for short as T4). Then one of the three 5: deiiodinase enzymes removes one of

the iodiio atoms and forms T3 (triiodothyronine or liothyronine), which does

all the work of controlling our energy output. This it does by improving the

capacity of the cell membrane to pass into the cell every chemical needed to

make our metabolism work, and to fire up the capacity of the mitochondria

within the cell to produce energy.

But

circumstances may arise where the active T3 becomes unwanted by our metabolic

chemistry. Then the T4 to T3 conversion is sabotaged, and the iodine atom

removed from T4 is taken from a different site in the T4 molecule. So the

chemistry is the same, but the layout is subtly different. This differed form

of T3 is called reverse T3 (rT3). And reverse T3 doesn’t have metabolic

activity; it doesn’t have any effect on the cell membrane or the

mitochondria " .
