Hi Donna , I have had a very painful jaw since last fall, I went to the dentist

thinking it was a bad tooth and paid for x-rays and there was nothing wrong so I

went to my GP and he said it was just nerves and I must be grinding my teeth.

Could this have been the beginnings of my CML? I just wondered . My Jaw hurts

all the time. Thanks Eva

Can anyone tell me if there is anyway to get olive oil in capsule form? My

husband did the cleanse three weeks ago and passed stones for about 8 hours.

He feels soooo much better. I have tried a couple of times and can't get

the olive oil down, did the straw, mixed with grapefruit juice, etc. I've

always had trouble swallowing anything liquid that tests the pallet but I

can manage a pill the size of my thumb. Thanks in advance for any and all

suggestions.

Hi ,

I lived in Los Angeles for 24 years then moved to Connecticut for a clinical

trial. Very, very cold up there! Friends from California had moved to Virginia

and invited me down here. I've been here for 5 years now. My onc is at the

University of land in Baltimore. I've been planning a trip to St. 's

Island, MD for weeks now and the crazy weather has prevented it. I'm determined

to go June 21 now.

I grew up in Southern Indiana and had Great Aunts in Nashville where I went

every summer to visit. Tennessee and land both are very green and beautiful

states. You know how to pick 'em!

Best,

I & #39;ve been on it 3 different times to humour the allergist. Did nothing for

my allergies, asthma or sinus problems. The only thing that truly worked was

sinus surgery. Nan

Does anyone know anything about people developing illnesses from xolair?  My

wife has had a bad bout of allergic symptoms the last week AFTER her shot and in

reading up there is a lot of reference to " thrombocyopenia " and that is a kind

of blood issue.  Her mother died of complications of polycythemia vera a blood

disease so we are worried.

Where has she read of this reference, particularly in context with

Xolair? This has not come up in the group before. Some chemotherapy

drugs are associated with medicine-induced thrombocytopenia. I've

heard of methotrexate and heparin being involved.

We have one member of the group who has developed leukemia after

several years of being on Xolair, but neither she nor her doctor can

prove a direct or indirect link. She is a doctor herself.

Currently we have a thread in which a number of our folks are

wondering if their upper respiratory infections are related to

Xolair, but we have just as many folks whose upper respiratory

infection frequency has IMPROVED greatly on Xolair.

As to your wife having a bad bout of allergic symptoms, you have to

remember that Xolair is not a cure. If your wife has had increased

exposure to allergens recently, it is possible that she still had

plenty of unbound IgE to bind to the mast cell and start a reaction

instead of to the Xolair. Some of us make plenty of IgE ALL THE

TIME, and Xolair sometimes can't handle all of it. Two or three

members on our board have asked their docs for slightly higher doses

and seen improvement following that.

Also, Xolair will not have any effect on asthmatic reactions from

chemical exposure or allergic reactions to changes in barometric

pressure.

How long has your wife been on Xolair?

Good luck to both of you,

Addy

I'm not the one who made the original post about Thrombocytopenia but

did do some reading as I've been feeling extremely fatigued the last

few weeks - which might or might not have anything to do with

Xolair.

Thrombocytopenia was reported in studies in monkeys for omalizumab at

5 & #8722;27 times the maximum clinical dose and for E26 at 3 & #8722;15 times the

maximum dose. In response to FDA requests, Novartis and Genentech

carried out additional preclinical trials so that a specific

explanation of the toxicity could be obtained; Novartis suspected a

species specificity for the adverse events, as no thrombocytopenic

events occurred in the completed phase III clinical trials.

(Handbook of Theraputic Antibodies by published by Wiley-Vich) The

statement is made on page 981 that Thrombocytopenia is a

contraindication for the use of Omalizumab (Xolair).

Page 15 of 95 (pdf format) Since it's in pdf I cannot copy and

paste the info so certainly read it yourself but, essentially it says

that No Omalizumab exposed subject in the clinical studies with

normal or high baseline platelet counts developed thrombocytopenia,

although a mild decrease in blood platelet count was observed in more

Omalizumab-exposed subjects than in control subjects. Overall the

clinical studies suggest the Omalizumab administration may have been

associated with mild decreases in approximately 7% of exposed

subjects. ... the counts were still within normal levels.

Basically, in my humble opinion (and this is borne out in most all

drug studies) there is not enough data collected about people who

take a given med and who have concurrent diseases. That's reality -

we all have more than one disorder. Obviously Xolair is very helpful

to many people ... it's also likely that in certain combinations of

diseases and/or meds that it could be a problem.

Inquiring minds want to know!

My heart goes out to and his family. What a wonderful young man - I'd be

proud to have him as a son. What a heartbreak for his family and friends. I

don't want to sound crass, but I hope his passing into the next chapter of his

life is smooth and beautiful. I write this with tears in my eyes.

To answer question about cruises-I do great on a cruise.  Getting there is

another story.  I have to fly from Michigan & every time I fly my asthma acts

up.  I really get sick & now if I do fly my doctor said I would have to increase

my prednisone before the trip.  I am on 10 mg but every time I get an attack I

have to have an enormous amount & an very unhappy about the side effects.  Does

any one else get sick every time they fly?

Taking into account that I have not read the new health care bill, what says is pretty eye opening. I'm neither democrat or republican but have a strong negative impression of republicans, in particular having the impression that the majority of republican supporters are myopic, conservative, religious idiots. The dems seem to be lesser idiots.Arhata The Great Thing About the Health Care Law That Has Passed? It Will Save Republican Lives, Too (An Open Letter to Republicans from ) Monday, March 22nd, 2010 To My Fellow Citizens, the Republicans:

Thanks to last night's vote, that child of yours who has had asthma since birth will now be covered after suffering for her first nine years as an American child with a pre-existing condition. Thanks to last night's vote, that 23-year-old of yours who will be hit one day by a drunk driver and spend six months recovering in the hospital will now not go bankrupt because you will be able to keep him on your insurance policy. Thanks to last night's vote, after your cancer returns for the third time -- racking up another $200,000 in costs to keep you alive -- your insurance company will have to commit a criminal act if they even think of dropping you from their rolls. Yes, my Republican friends, even though you have opposed this health care bill, we've made sure it is going to cover you, too, in your time of need. I know you're upset right now. I know you probably think that if you did get wiped out by an illness, or thrown

out of your home because of a medical bankruptcy, that you would somehow pull yourself up by your bootstraps and survive. I know that's a comforting story to tell yourself, and if Wayne were still alive I'm sure he could make that into a movie for you. But the reality is that these health insurance companies have only one mission: To take as much money from you as they can -- and then work like demons to deny you whatever coverage and help they can should you get sick. So, when you find yourself suddenly broadsided by a life-threatening illness someday, perhaps you'll thank those pinko-socialist, Canadian-loving Democrats and independents for what they did Sunday evening. If it's any consolation, the thieves who run the health insurance companies will still get to deny coverage to adults with pre-existing conditions for the next four years. They'll also get to cap an individual's annual health care reimbursements for the

next four years. And if they break the pre-existing ban that was passed last night, they'll only be fined $100 a day! And, the best part? The law will require all citizens who aren't poor or old to write a check to a private insurance company. It's truly a banner day for these corporations. So don't feel too bad. We're a long way from universal health care. Over 15 million Americans will still be uncovered -- and that means about 15,000 will still lose their lives each year because they won't be able to afford to see a doctor or get an operation. But another 30,000 will live. I hope that's ok with you. If you don't mind, we're now going to get busy trying to improve upon this bill so that all Americans are covered and so the grubby health insurance companies will be put out of business -- because when it comes to helping the sick, no one should ever be allowed to ask the question, "How much money can we save by making this poor bastard

suffer?" Please, my Republican friends, if you can, take a quiet moment away from your AM radio and cable news network this morning and be happy for your country. We're doing better. And we're doing it for you, too. Yours, MMFlint@....com P.S. I'll have more to say on this tonight, live on CNN, at 9pm ET. I'll be talking with Larry King about the health care bill and where we go from here, considering we still don't have universal health care. P.P.S. In case you missed these photos in yesterday's NY Times Sunday Magazine... That's the results of seven years of madness. The Iraq War began its 8th year this weekend. You should try a spoonful of apple cider vinegar daily and when this feeling

I know it is counter intuitive.
