Dear Kringlemom,

Sorry to hear about your problems - my last chol. test was over 600. I think

something went wrong in the lab! I know how you feel about having to choose

between meds, no fun. Hope the med works quickly for you. (I chose not to take

meds for chol. because my liver is being attacked by so many meds already) By

the way, now that you've mentioned Ravinia and Gurnee I know we're in the same

neck of the woods. But my part of the forest is closer to World Music and

Orland Square!

Jo

Re: [ ]

i didn't go to ravinia with my sister. my head felt really wierd about 3/4

of the way to gurnee i was wondering why am i driving again?? my spine felt

like the stick, balancing the plate on an old variety show. i get a call

while i'm on the phone w/linda and just put them on hold. well it was dr

fang/dr roden office my cholesterol is up to 239, triglycerides are up and

the bad stuff too. so i get more drugs!!! he has called in something called

baychol, it is supposed to lower my lipid level. i am to take 1 pill per day.

i haven't even picked up my last script cause i can't afford it!!! but thats

ulcer meds. i think this one is more important.

Hi Terry

I have been taking the elavil for 22 days now and I am still waking

several time during the night and I can't seem to sleep later than

6:30 in the morning. Once the sun is up, I can't sleep. I am going

to ask the doctor if we can try something new. Will be getting some

dark curtains to go over the windows as well. We have lots of

windows.

Sorry about the delay in posting. It was a busy weekend, I competed

and lost in the Sing Fest 2001 competition. I sang in the gospel

category, and came in 3rd. Not too bad. I am really tired though.

It take a lot of energy and emotion to get up on stage in front of

hundreds of people.

It was fun though. The kids were absolutely delighted to see mommy on

stage.

Must read on. Take care.

Thanks ,

Yes I've got to believe that a knee replacement will help. Mainly because I

am so analytical that I have realized that when I get up during the night

the left side of my body hurts and the right doesn't. My conclusion being

that after resting the right knee & hip don't hurt but the left do because

they are bad-knee-no cartilage, hip needs replacement in 3-5 years.

Yes, diamonds would be nicer than a cooler!

Hi ,

I've been taking the Elavil since 1992. What dosage are you at? It could be

you aren't at a high enough dosage yet and it hasn't had a chance to work on

you. I started at 10 MG. I am at 50 MG now. The highest dose you can take

with that is up to 150 MG. You could talk to your doc about raising the

dose. Another thing I have noticed is on some nights the Elavil will NOT

work. I have discovered this to happen when I am close to starting my

period. I took 75 MG one night.. not one wink of sleep! And I have starting

keeping a chart, it and it's a pattern. Same time very month the stuff won't

work. So I take 75 rather than 50.. as my doc said I could.

I also have something dark up over my bedroom window, since I tend to sleep

part of the day.

I'd love to hear you sing!!!

Maybe you could do the hip sooner than three years if is yet another source

of great pain, . Did you see that new procedure for hip replacements

they came up with in Chicago? It's much less invasive and has a quicker

recovery period than the traditional method.

Hi Rainy-

I am currently taking 10 mg. Have been since June 4th. I see my

Rheumy again on the 10th of July. She will re-evaluate then. Until

then it's a waiting game.

Hi there,

I am finally getting to this one. When the 10 MG didn't work for me I was

raised to 20 MG, and then I was in heaven. Let me know what you and your doc

decide.

Hi ,

Yes, my husband has gotten pretty good at helping when I am feeling

really bad. I just wish he would help before I start feeling bad,

then maybe I wouldn't feel bad. It's a vicious circle. Maybe he

will start to see a pattern soon.

No ville isn't close to you. We are above Nashville. But I

have been to Mountain City. We drive through there I think when we

drive to see my Mother-In-Law. She lives in Pine Knoll Shores, near

Morehead City.

Well, It time to get to work. Talk to ya soon.

Hi ,

Boy you sure are having a tough time these days. Hopefully, one of the

medications will start to kick in or the flare will start to subside all by

itself. I too, tend to withdraw from things when I am in a lot of pain. I

will read everyday, but just don't have the energy to return the posts. Pain

by and in itself can make you exhausted. Don't worry, we all understand and

have been there many times & will be there for you too.....Try not to overdo

this weekend, even if you start to feel a little bit better......

Gentle, tender, pain free angel hugs,

Debs

Yes, that is all we can do. I am sure glad you are feeling better.

I think we all over do it when we feel better. It somehow makes me

feel like I AM worth something, cause when I am hurting I feel

worthless. I know I am not, and I am not at fault for hurting, but

my " ism " or " the Devil " likes to tell me so, and when I am not in fit

spiritual condition, I listen to that voice and believe it.

I will pray for your friend too.

Kathy,

I hope it has passed and you're feeling better. Do you

think the Remicade is helping you? You've been getting

these fevers for so long now. Does your doctor seem to be

concerned about them? I hope today was a pain free one.

I hope your new regiment is easier on you. I'm glad to hear

that you've gotten

good results and are in the planting mood! I spend a lot of

time in my back yard

puttering in my garden. This is the first time in about 8

years that we had one.

It's really good for me to sit in my lounge chair and admire

all the flowers that we planted. I enjoy laying out there

and reading. When I'm stuck in this house all winter, I'm

enjoying it.

I hope you continue to feel good.

Yeas the ablation is this Thursday. Then Knee replacement on Sept 14, then

abdominal surgery in beginning of February, then Family vacation to Disney

World in February (in wheelchair), the hip replacement in March. Have been

dealing with a lot of issues besides my pain lately. My 19 year old

bi-polar son is in and out of trouble and an emotional and financial drain

on us. My 15 year old son has whooping cough would you believe? Doctor says

that in teen years the effectiveness of the vaccination wanes. Husband sick

with URI too. Need I go on.

Am selling old Barbie stuff and Fisher Price little people on Ebay-like a

full time job.

Must admit I'm down but don't know how to get up and just pretend for

family.

Good thing. My miniature schnauzer, Krystal, had 2 beautiful puppies two

weeks ago. Now I need buyers. They are purebred.

Think my left shoulder now has damage too because it hurts constantly, at

least I don't have to walk on it!

I hope the ablation goes well tomorrow. I'll be praying

that the procedure is painfree. I hope you don't catch the

germs that are circulation around your house! I haven't

heard of anyone getting whooping cough! I feel so bad about

everything you are going through. I know how the emotional

stress affects you. I pray for your strength to deal with

this.

a,

Guess you could say the ablation went well but only time will tell. The

waking sedation is a joke-I went to sleep-fentenyl and valium! Then had a

really hard time coming to in recovery-took 3 hours. When I got home went to

bed for 5 hours, woke up for 3 and went back to bed for the night. It hurts

so not that I do much but will do less today!

What's the follow-up for the ablation?
