Guest guest
My boss not taking notice of my limitations sadly is the reason why my back got so much worse. In front of clients she would tell me not to do something to make herself look good and then I would have to hunk around 40 lb bags of dog food, restain 75 lb dogs or help the other tech strip a 100 lb dog with broken clippers as she could not possible do it by herself. I always remember just before my surgery I went in to get my check and infront of a client she told me to get out because if I slipped or something she was not going to pay workmens comp, I just turned around and walked out but always remembered the look of disgust on the clients face at what and how she said that. Guest guest
hello, My pain meds help except when I have to leave home and spend hours away from my bed, then the pain gets worse and worse and I have to take more meds than I normally would, plus the fact that after I am up for many hours and have gone way past my pain threshold, way past 10, the meds get to be like taking candy. It's sad. Then when I do go to lay down on my bed, omg, the pain moves with you very painfully and takes awhile to calm down.  It is miserable. I am currently taking 5mg of oxycodone, I am on 7 pain pills a day, and that is only enough if I am staying home, not doing much or anything. Sucks. So, yes the pain meds help but they are not enough. I am going to be changing my regime soon I hope. Something stronger and longer lasting. I haven't had good sleep for several years now, I think it is amazing I can still think and function as much as I do.  I know my thinker isn't as good as it used to be, not enough rem sleep. Hope everyone has a decent day. hugs, Coleen ________________________________ From: " tomhfsu@... Guest guest
I do alot of sitting, sit 40 minutes to and from work, plus sitting most of the day doing admin work. I've had back pain on/off for about 25 years, diagnosed with a slight herniated/bulging disk about 15 years ago, bad enough at the time radiating down my left leg to a dragging foot. (I also have scoloisis since age 14, now age 51) Neurosurgeon wanted to do surgery, I said no way at that time.  It still bothers me from time to time, I am trying to recognize the signs and treat myself. I have been prescribed ibuprofen(sp) 600 mg. I take only when I really need it, which has been lately.  I have to bring 45-50 lb boxes of copy paper to 3 work stations at work. I use a 2 wheeler. Months ago when my back was really bad I sent out an email and requested help. Well apparently when my back got better (not perfect), the " smart " people at work figured I could just take out each ream of paper one by one and place on a cart and then bring to work stations. Hmm I guess the " smart " people don't think that twisting and turning has any affect on the back. As many of you know and feel, the pain never totally goes away.  My MRI in 6/2008 indicated " Degenerative changes are seen at the lumbosacral spine junction. "  I'm assuming that means arthritis, I can't remember if I really ever got that clarified.  If so, what/how does a person treat arthritis?  My back went out again about 2 weeks ago, and I just had enough. I made an appt. for Wednesday with orthopedic spine doctor. My family has this specialist practice for the multiple knee surgeries we've had done over the years due to work, car and sports injuries. A gal from work had back surgery from one of the doctors and is appearing to be doing pretty good now, so that gives me hope! Not that I'm hoping for surgery. I'm not sure what to expect or what it is I'm hoping for, maybe just another opinion from a more specialized doctor. Maybe a means to help me deal with my physical frustration and my frustration of dealing with the " smart " people at work. Yeh, I worry too if I " can't do my job " at work what they will do or make it hard for me.  Thanks for listening, Rainey    From: birdcrazy624@... <birdcrazy624@...> Subject: Re: Re: what do you miss most.. neck pain Date: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 10:05 AM  When I was nursing, I did have a Doctor's note stating what my limitations are. I miss being able to work, go out with my kids without being in pain and suffering for days afterward, took my 5 year old trick or treating on main street on Tuesday and was not fun but she did not know that although the older kids do. I miss being able to garden, drive anywhere. I miss being able to clean my house with out pain. Going anywhere is painful but I do try so hard to make the most of what I have become. At the moment am checking emails while cooking my back with a heating pad and waiting for the pain killers t o kick in so I can go vacumn. > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Dear " Fuddster, I can vacuum too, but only for a minute or two, I have a good pain med., but I use an electric broom almost all the time-we have 2 cats and I'm always having to vacuum up litter that they seem to love to scatter around. My husband used to vacuum for me, but he's in a lot of pain, so we just gave the vacuum away. We're in an apt. anyways, and won't get our deposit back, so I don't worry too awfully much, and do what I can with housecleaning , usually do it after I take pain pills. If I don't doze off anyways!
