The first time you're infected by the virus (say, by sharing a cup

with someone who has an active cold sore), some viruses will infect

facial nerves. They'll attach themselves (inside the cell) to the

nerve's transport system and be carried up the nerve to the nucleus of

It's poorly understood how this " provirus " (that's what the viral DNA

inserted into the host genome is called) is activated at some times

and not others. However, as was said earlier, antiretrovirals like

acyclovir can interfere with their activation and production. So,

while there's no cure, you can take drugs to make outbreaks less

frequent and less severe.

I also remember Dr. Natasha -McBride (speaker last year at WAP

conference) who recovered her son from autism through diet and use of fermented

have some in the corner of my mouth. I used Lavender essential oil this

morning since I had read I could use it. I am out of my Tea Tree oil.

usually mix it with raw milk and raw egg, stir them together, sweeten with

raw honey and drink down. Anything else?

I have used Honey on the sore a couple of times with some success, although

others have said it makes it worse.

If you are desperate and want to go pharmaceutical, Zovirax Cream is an

excellent choice.

a home ozonator, but no $$ to buy it just yet, so I can't say how good

Right now I am going to do the Lysine and my essential oils. I know Tea Tree

oil is excellent to help it dry up.

the drugs thedocs dispense have dangerous side effects.

BTW, one can purchase ozonated olive oil. More expensive than making

one's own, but no need to buy expensive machinery, so buying a jar of

ozonated olive oil is more affordable..

I have not used ozonated olive oil, but this website seems like it

sells a good product.

Hi Alobar,

Thanks again.I bought a Lyzine lip ointment yesterday. I agree with you I

have nothing to do with regular doctors. I don't touch any prescriptions and

use herbs only, some nutraceuticals, raw foods and supplements. I have been

through a lot of stress lately, therefore the cold sores.

The ozonated olive oil I am going to buy, it has many more uses I see. Great

for massage on achy bodies.

Duncan,

Back 20 years ago I used to get major break-outs of cold sores in the

corners of my mouth. When the sores broke open, infection would

spread. No idea if the lysine in the salve penetrated the unbroken

skin, but it did seem to induce the sores to heal more quickly and the

sores exuded less fluid.

Something else which worked was making a saturated solution of BHA or

BHT in 190 proof alcohol. That stung a lot, but was very effective.

I got that idea from a life extension book in which the author

referred to BHA and BHT as " vitamins which nature did not invent " . BHA

and BHT were supposed to be helpful for viral infections such as

Herpes and HIV. No internet in those days, so I never looked into

posible dangers of using BHA or BHT. By the time I did have internet,

I no longer had serious herpes problems because of less stress and

taking lysine, twice a day to prevent outbreaks.

The book I was referring to was published prior to Durk & Sandy's

book. But the publisher never advertised it much so hardly anyone

bought it. I have no memory of the title or author.

The Lysine ointment did work, I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to

you. I was gone to Helena, MT. The ingredients listed are: L-Lysine,

Beeswax, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, cosmetic base

is: Octyl Palmitate, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Lanolin Alcohol, Propyl

Paraben and Fragrance. The name is 's Lysine Lip Balm, it comes in a

little tube. I like the size because I could put in my purse.

Hi Mandy,

I too suffer from coldsores, and have done since a child, mine seem to come up

when im run down, which of late feels like all the time! I also suffer alot with

my throat, and glands in my neck (feel flu like ongoing) Zovorax doesnt do much

for mine either, i`m not sure about vitamins, all i know is the virus lays

dormant in your body all the time.

I know this is off subject, but do you or others also suffer from Neuralgia? I

get this a hell of alot, its so painful.
