I was nauseous the next day but that was to be expected.

I had a rubber strip around my head that held the bandage post

surgery. Sort of looks like a headband you would use snow skiing. I

continued to use that headband just to make sure my ears would not

stick out for a few weeks. Seemed to work for me.

Since I slept the first week with my head elevated, I don't think I

got the swelling you described.

Listen to your body. Us men tend to " tough it out " and don't always

slow down or take a rest when we need to.

Good luck! Neely, Dallas Texas

Congratulations: 19 days isn't long, sounds like you are doing fine.

I wonder about the time for swelling too, but it's probably different

for everyone.

I spoke to him for awhile this morning, he would LOVE phone calls, call (502)629-8000 and ask for Morse in Room 5M10

He could use prayers as well....has been short of breath, they are giving him blood, he has the DVT in his leg, and did have a heart attack and angioplasty....bless his heart

I think he is pretty bored, he just called Rob and they talked a while too.

I spoke to about an hour ago. He was not able to talk long as they wanted him hooked to oxygen. He has had some respiratory distress today, likely from fluid in his lungs. His spirits seemed to have taken a lil slump so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers....

Hi ...long time no hear. Glad to hear the hip feels good. I know a few

folks who have had issues with shoulder surgery and I sure hope the kinks are

worked out soon and its as good as the hip. Other than the headache did the

spinal go ok? As I approach surgery I am so nervous. I have to have a revision

to

my hip and after an unsuccessful and very scary failed intubabation the docs

are looking to try epidural/ spinal. I was warned of the headache. I have a

small curve in my spine but I still have space that should allow for the

epidural.

I am also an ambassador and I really enjoy it. I am on the monthly phone

calls as well.

I am not sure of you have recieved any information about the upcoming KY JA

Funday. We would love to have ya join us. We still need volunteers and

speakers. Drop me an email if interetsed ok.

HI Dana, I just looked at your pics and you look completely

amazing!!! :-) Kudos on keeping your weight down so good! Dont you

think that is a big part of this whole journey? It looks like you

had a fab time and look at you on the beach in your swim suit, hot,

hot, hot!! :-)

I know what you mean about old pics and stuff. We were looking

through some old pics and we found one of us remodeling my salon and

I Looked like a freakin weeble wobble, I was so huge! I had no idea

that I was that huge! It made me want to cry thinking how long I was

in denial about my size. But I think we do that as a protective

mechanism too. I have a stylist that works for me who is a big girl

and she is in total denial of how big she is and we talk about that

sometimes.

But again you look wonderful and you are enjoying life! good for you!

take care,

Hi Dana

I have just come back from Mexicali and have lots of news for you and

Betty! Email me at pmanvill@... and I'll fill you in. Sounds

able to wear the same clothes you had last summer and they fit the

same! Not that I don't like shopping for new clothes! HEHEHE. I

guess we'll be making 1 more trip to MD to help Micah and Kim move to

Texas in October. Let you know more in the email.

glad creepy pulmonology guy gave you a good report.... lol.....

I was told that the pulmonary fibrosis I possibly have with the decreased

lung capacity (which idont feel either), is due to chronic inflammation...

so that's probably the cause of yours...

Have fun at camp!!!!

I finally had my appointment with pulmonology (he's kind of creepy,

I'll be honest) and he said that despite my actual lung capacity has diminished,

my body in it's super efficient ways is working just fine, it's still exchanging

gases correctly and my body is compensating for the diminished capacity. He said

it is not known why it has diminished but the MCTD could be the culprit and when

I see Dr. C again that we should develop a plan to make sure that if its active

again that we take care of that immediately. I will have a repeat PFT and

appointment in six months and if everything is still going well I will just go

every six months, so basically thats great! I have an appointment when I get

back with Dr. C so we will discuss what the next treatment plan is there. I am

mentally prepared to start back on treatment, so that's good too.

Now I am off to Okizu for nine glorious days.

hi sarah

i too am feeling terrible - tired, not hungry, achy. i am waiting to

treat my adrenals with HC, so in limbo until then. this had better

work or else i dont know what to do.

have you looked at your adrenals not working properly?

it seems to me these are the main cause why people are ill with

depression/anxiety/hpoT.

stick in there, i'm going through what you are at this very moment -

if that helps?

Yes that does help and thanks so much, I am treating my adrenals with 4 NAE and am wondering whether to go down the same road as you by using HC.

I had an adrenal profile done last month and it showed below range cortisol output all day on every reading except the midnight one.

I have Hashis and am taking 150mcg of T4.

Are you treating yourself with the HC? I am pretty scared of doing that myself but when you think about it its only replacing a steriod that your body makes anyway but not enough of.

I am going to my docs tomorrow for my latest blood results but cant see the point in asking him for some HC as I doubt he will give me any but I might just ask. I have been referred to an endo at my local hospital and am waiting for an appointment and I have also seen Dr P.

I feel shaky, wobbly legs that sometimes feel as if they wont go where I want them to, feel sick nearly all day and very weepy, its so hard to keep positive isnt it?

it's very hard to be positive. i am just sat waiting for the HC to

arrive. i am doing very little at the moment and i am normally very

active.

i have no fear regarding the HC. 2.5mg's to start with is not a

problem. i not sure how much my body needs, but i will go slow with

the increases. based on how i feel and saliva test results i know i am

not bed ridden with major adrenal failure. i think i am more early

stage (2 or 3). it is still horrible feeling like this, but i suppose

it could be worse.

in fact how i feel now is probably how i felt without anti D's. i

cant believe i did so much back then. i can see the anti d's did help

to some extent, but they never made me feel better ( i have stopped

taking them now after 10 yrs. i did it slow from april until 2 weeks

ago).

in fact i have a question i will pose to the board in a minute.

if i were you i would go for it, even if your doc wont help you.

as far as i see it any side effects are nothing compared to the

quality of life i now have.

i will post what happens with my experiment when i get the stuff. i

will be taking dhea at first followed by HC. if all goes well i will

be putting the armour back in at 2 grains a week later.

i have been doing a lot of research this last week and really think

this will be the answer for me.

all the best, J

Hi

I have heard that DHEA takes some time to have any effect, can be up to 3 months. I think you are right about the HC, a small dose to start and then build up, I have just read how to use it in Dr P s book, seems straight forward and the problems can arise if the dose is too much which can cause the adrenals to pack in complelety.

I am not bed ridden either but finding it hard to do what I normally do and with more effort needed. Do you feel better in the evening? I do

Like you I have taken Ad's for many years but stopped my last one, prozac at the end of April, I weaned myself off it over 3 months and I know they arent what I need anymore.

Have you treated your adrenals with anything else or are you just going straight on to the HC? Good luck with it and I might be joining you soon..........................

i dont feel any different in the evening, pretty much the same all day.

i have been taking the NAE tablets and am up to 5 a day, but i dont

think they do much.

i have done some more research tonight and reckon i am stage 2 -

adapted with dhea slump. check out this link it is pretty good.

i also have my saliva test results from june. they have helped me

come to the conclusion.

HI

Have you actually STOPPED your L-thyroxine when you started taking your adrenal support. If you haven't, then this is probably the reason why you are feeling so awful. You need to start your adrenal support when you are taking nothing else. Your adrenals need to be shocked into 'waking up' so they can start to do the work they are supposed to and giving them thyroxine - that has to go through the process of converting to T3 and all the other stuff it is supposed to do is too much to expect of tired adrenals. This is the reason many people feel so well on thyroid hormone replacement (and it's doubly awful when your NHS GP doesn't understand why this is). You need to understand what is happening so please read Dr Peatfields paper on the adrenal/thyroid connection in our website.

Everybody who starts on NAE or any other form of adrenal supplementation MUST stop they thyroxine or Armour for a few days so your adrenals get every chance to get boosted enough before starting your thyroxine again.

I am only assuming you have not stopped your thyroxine by the symptoms you say you have, but if you have stopped as you should have done, then something else is obviously causing the problem.

Have you actually talked to your GP about Armour? If he refuses to prescribe it, would you be willing and able to go down this route of self-prescribing?

Hope you get better soon.

luv - Sheila

HiI am sat here thinking what to say, dont know what to do or say apart from I feel bloody awful.I feel like stopping all T4, it hasnt made me better infact worse to some degree but then thats probably the strain on my adrenals.I am ssssssooooooo fed up, feel like giving up and saying 'ok, Im meant to be like this' but I am sure death would be better!Just had a weekend in Whitby that was I determined to go on but it was hard trying to be well and enjoy it.What is worrying me more now is that I am going to America in October and I so want to look forward to it and have a good time, this holiday has been 18 months in the planning.Maybe I should stay out there and get treated out there, they seem to do a better job than over here.No virus found in this incoming message.

Earl McCorckle-You leetle rascal. I have been wondering where you've been. Nice goin' with your 62 lbs thinner self !! Put on those 14's and strut !! Hey, who doesn't splurge a little bit while on vacation ? I can't wait to see your pictures.Keep on Truckin' Loretta

Hello my banded and sleeved partners in the weight loss journey-This is one of the 's here (banded 4/18/08) and I haven't hadmuch time to write but wanted to drop you all a BIG HELLO. I went onvacation about a week ago, and THIS time, me and the baby (threeyears old!) gained two pounds, my husband put on five and my son(football player) gained nine pounds! That's in one week! Now thewonder of that is, on every vacation we have ever taken, I have alwaysbeen the BREAD WINNER, and eater for that matter, that came back withmost pounds gained! Well NOT this time BABY! Of course the son andhusband both lost their vacation weight this week, son throughtwo-a-days and husband because he's a lucky bast**d that never gainsany weight he actually keeps, but joy of joys, my weight is gone aswell! I have lost 62 pounds since I had the band in place four monthsago and have gone from a size 24-26, to a

size 14-16 and I feelPRETTY!!!!!! !!I have plateaued a few times, am actually in the midst of onecurrently, but I do think that's the nature of the beast. The beastbeing my thighs and arse, but nevertheless, I continue on my whirlwindadventure in band-land! I say this to all you considering, there aintno easy fix girls and boys. This is hard, irritating, psychosocialevaluating stuff, but at the end of it, there's a thinner me.By the by, I weigh "about" (less twenty pounds I have lost a hundredtimes in the past 17 years) what my normal body weight has been mostof my adult life. I think the real psychological test for me will bewhen I lose the next 21 pounds. I haven't weighed less than that sincemy son was born and his 18th birthday is September 10. I'll keep youposted. Be cool, and get thin! I will try to post pics soon!!!!! (one of them!)

Loretta, I LOVE IT! I am going to get others to call me a Texan Tart.

Just to strengthen that statement, while on vacation, besides gaining

2 pounds, I got MY FIRST tattoo. I would have never thought I'd do

something like that but I DID! And I got a tramp stamp (my son's

moniker) to boot! And yes, I do breed well and identically. The boy

and girl, 15 years apart as they are, have identical baby pictures and

different daddies, so there's just one common denominator and it aint

male DNA. :):):) I love to take credit for the amazingness that is my

children, if only in appearance, I am all over those two:) Thanks for

the kind words. This does make it all worth it after the fact. STILL

FEELING PRETTY!!!!!
