I know the new name feels a little weird. I have been Salvucci for twenty

five years I am getting used to being Codianne now. The wedding was

perfect. At the rehearsal two days before the wind was incredibly crazy and I

was freaking out just a bit about it. Luckily the day of our wedding the weather

couldn't have been better. We had so much fun and when the night was over we

were kind of sad to see it end. It was absolutely perfect. When I get the

pictures I will be sure to link the photo album on here.

With Love,

(MCTD, 25 and yes my wedding was a non flare day.. seriously it was

Hey everyone I know that most of you know how I have been doing but I just

wanted to give a solid update. Well, I have 3 requests and it's the busiest

Knots of Hope has ever been. There's now chat room on the website and it's all

been a great success. I am so thankful for all of the blanket people. The kids

are adorable and they sound awesome. I am so happy to be able to work with these

kids. I was able to attend a lovely arthritis camp in Winder Georgia, it was an

amazing. I am so happy to write this update because I have something positive to

say. As you guys know it was always, flare, flare, flare. Now, things are well,

normal. If feels so weird typing that, I am so used to telling people that I

just want to be normal. I went to my pain doctor, we now know that my brain is

so used to giving me pain, that it goes overboard. When I first saw my pain

doctor I was at a low point. She only saw me when I was crying 24/7. I had to

use a chair to get up on the exam table, because it hurt to bad to jump up. I

hopped up on the table and Dr. Venable looked amazed. She Thought I was doing so

well that she brought in 4 different doctors, to show off I guess. I went to see

the rhuemy and thumbs up from her. It's so crazy, I get settled and there's

good news every where and......BOOM a flare. I am so used to that now I will

never be able to really enjoy regular life, because it will always be on the

back burner. This will be the first time i have ever typed this but, the huge

announcement on the video was that I am going to see my congressman in the fall.

I am so excited and I can't wait to tell him about your amazing kids. I know

that I am not the only kid that needs to be spoken for at this meeting. Right

now, the government spends 9.8 million dollars on research. But that's only $32

for each kid. So, I have no clue what I am going to say! Feed my brain ideas!!

Pretend like I am handing you play doh, help me mold it!

(ps never tell your kids to be creative, tell them to do something that only

they could think of)

Thanks!!

I want to thank you on behalf of all the moms on this group. Sometimes

we look at our kids futures and we're blindsided by the medical

stuff. We forget they can indeed have bright, full futures ahead of

them, even if the medical challenges never leave. CJ's final chemo

treatment has been delayed four times now, and he is facing more

procedures if his platelet counts prevent the fifth attempt next

week. Still, they are telling us he has a good chance of being

arthritis free and cancer free when this is all done. But it won't be

" done " for a good long while, even after chemo stops. We won't really

know if the cancer chemo has taken out the arthritis as well (and now

they are building a theory that it might never have been systemic

arthritis but a rare presentation of Hodgkins all along) for months

after we're done.

Your post reminded me that even if we're never done (which we may

never be), my son has a wonderful life ahead of him. His body is just

the package his soul came in, not the determining factor of his life.

You are a constant, hard-fact reminder of this to me. Thanks!

Wow. What kind of discrimination is this? I think it's worth looking into.... I don't have a clue what else to say. It just seems so blatantly sexist. What -- your money isn't as green as his? I know you won't give up on this. I care. Please keep us posted.

That is terrible. What is the difference where the money comes from? Sorry if that is a stupid question - I thought a marriage should based on SHARING and the "what's mine is yours" concept!

If he is so worried about keeping things so separate, then write him a check monthly.

Do you have any options with a 401k account? I have saved up most of it, but when I went with Dr. Aceves, it is going to cost me more then I originally expected (not that I'm complaining AT ALL - don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and I'm glad to not be part of a surgical assembly line or "mill"). Ooops...got a little off track there. Anyway, it is a little more money that I have saved and so I'm pulling a loan from my 401k for the rest of what I need and get to pay MYSELF back interest.

Is there possibly something else going on where your husband has some insecurities about you having this surgery that need to be worked out? You would think he would be more supportive to have a happier, healthier wife who can give him a family!

By-the-way - please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not knocking on your hubby at all...I'm just wondering if there isn't something going on with him that is causing him to feel nervous about the surgery and this was an "out" for him....

Is_Bo,

I'm so sorry to hear of your set back. I know first hand how upsetting and disappointing road blocks can be. I fought for over 5 years to have my surgery the whole time with insurance companys and finally had to set my mind to paying for it myself. I know this isnt going to help right now but I try to look at all my set backs as having a reason. It was not my time yet and maybe its just not time yet for you. No one could have told me that either I know your saying BS. Try and take a deep breath clear your head and keep dreaming it will happen just maybe not this time. Dont give up, I'm here for you,

No. He wants me to get the surgery but he worries about paying for it. I am unemployed now and getting unemployment but I know I will have a job soon as I interviewed for a position today that I think will result in an offer. This person told me in the first 5 minutes that I had everything she was looking for!

We are considering calling the finance company to see if they could bill us on our credit card instead of bank account to see if that would be an option. My husband also has been researching other places for me to get the surgery that may be less (not in Mexico). His plate is full now as he has a few things on his mind regarding his mom. We had a 3 hour discussion today about everything and that seems to be his only concern. He has so many automatic debits coming out that it’s hard to track and although he’s tried to get them removed and be billed instead, most won’t change.

Anyways, I’m still hoping he will change his mind by tomorrow.

Hi Lise,

He can go to his bank and stop the debits from coming through his account--who ever is doing these debits does not control your bank account--you husband does so head to the bank. Please do not have any other doctor do this surgery. Dr. Aceves is the only person in my book that you would want to do this surgery. He is the "Gold Standard" when it comes to sleeve surgery. Instead of billing your credit card. Why not just skip this finance company and put it all on your credit card?

I know how difficult all this can be and your frustration that you are feeling. My heart goes out to you. I know this is what you want more than anything. NEVER give up on your dream.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Thanks Suzanne,

The only issue is that my credit card has a little credit limit (my credit went south when I tried to get my husband up to Canada). We are in the process of talking things through and now there is a possibility that he may co-sign for me with me being the borrower and him guarantor. However, I have to wait until the situation regarding his family is resolved and I have no clue when that will be or what the outcome will be. It’s a long story, not for the board to know.

He won’t let me take some of the automatic debits (I’ve been trying for months to do it) but at the same time he won’t stop complaining about them. The problem is that everything is under his name. We even tried to get equity on out house but because we were not able to get the basement finished on time, we did not get any of the funding that we were approved for.

I am looking at alternatives; I’ve asked Dr. Aceves if he could bill me monthly on my credit card and he said he couldn’t. Too many people had taken advantage of him that way; a few payments would go through and then they would close the account and the hospital and staff never get paid. I told him that it would never happen with me as I am extremely honest, but he unfortunately cannot do it.

I was wondering if any of you had heard of the Slimband? I see lots of advertising about it and looks good but I know I want the sleeve.

She may not have that much room on a credit card(s) for the amt. needed. I'm

sure there will be another way to get this done. Please update us on your

decision/actions towards finding a solution. I agree, stick with Dr. Aceves and

team.

Does anyone else have trouble with when you receive these posts to your

computer? I click on VISIT YOUR GROUP, and most of the time, the group

page comes up, but then is redirected to a Dell search page (I have a Dell

computer)saying that it can't find this group. I've already scanned for virus

and spy ware. My DH said it's got to do with and not the computer. Just

wondered if anyone else has had this issue with this group or other groups

on ? I can rarely post here because of this stuff which just started about

a month ago. Thanks if you can offer any advice. To repeat, it's not a computer

problem; I emptied my cache and all the normal stuff you do when having glitchy

problems.

Hi Lise,

I do understand you situation. I would only consider Dr. Aceves and the sleeve. I have never heard about the Slimband--sound like another version of the lapband and I would run fast away from that. Even if you have to wait. The wait is well worth it. If you are going to have this surgery--have the best and have ONLY a sleeve. You will never have one regret. It is well worth the wait.

I know what you are talking about when you say your credit went South. I have been there years ago, dug myself out from under all that so I know you frustration and feels. Don't give up on having the best there is--you are worth it.

Thnx Adelaide for all you've done too, and everyone else who has been supportive

of me over what I find, which I love to do and share. It is my hope even with

all that I find, I think this way, take what you want and leave the rest. If it

helps, it helps. If it don't, then maybe my next post might?;)

Again thnx each and everyone:), grady

Hi Vickie,

One that I found that I could deal with for 10 short days at first was at this web site.

www.unjury.com

I bought a few packets of the Chicken broth and it was pretty good--don't buy a big container of it just the trial packets to see if you like them. When I started the 2nd 10 days of creamy stage; I started using Premier Protein Drink and I love it. It is almost 2 years later and I still have one for breakfast every morning and so does my husband and he never had the surgery. I get it at Costco.

I hate Isopure--it is awful stay away from it.

It is almost 2 years later and I still have one for breakfast every morning and so does my husband and he never had the surgery. I get it at Costco.

I hate Isopure--it is awful stay away from it.

, I bought protein shots as well and they were fine per Dr. Campos. They were made by Body Fortress and were 2.9 oz. You can look them up online and see if they are similar to what you have. You can buy the ones I'm referring to at Walmart and they are 26g of protein. They are "clear" (look like pink lemonade)...just a little thicker like melted jello. These were the only way I got in my protein during clears. 1 for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you are set!KristaSent from my iPhoneOn Sep 17, 2010, at 9:53 AM, Debert <movie_mommy@...> wrote:

Hi Vickie,

One that I found that I could deal with for 10 short days at first was at this web site.

Hi ,

I am out of town for the weekend. Try asking Bipley on this site what she knows about it. Some protein really isn't what they say it is. Sometime it is no more than boiled cow hyde.

Hi Vickie,

I just had my surgery with Dr Aceves on Sept 13th. Highly recommended. I'm back at home feeling pretty good. A little sore but taking it slowly. My husband bought me a six pack of Isopure clear, zero carbs about 40-60 grams of protein. He bought it from GNC. It tastes okay. I have to drink it with ice. I bought a nice cup at Target that has a straw. It's insulated and clear. It keeps my warm stuff warm and my cold stuff cold. I drink all my liquids from this cup. I think it helps alot.

Hi ,

I hate to break it to you, but you are NOT having head hunger. My stomach rumbled too and I was NOT hungry. Be careful about this. I really try to tell people how deceitful our brains try to be to us and this is just what yours is doing.

I haven't heard anything good about the Protein Shots from Walmart. I have heard that they are not what they say they are--they are no more than boiled cowhide. You really need to find a good source of protein that you like and that it truly is protein. For me the Premier Protein works for me. And I get it at Costco. I know that there are some other sources of great protein. So if anyone has a GOOD source of protein please suggest them to .

You really will have to learn how your brain does this to you. You will swear up and down that it is REAL hunger and I promise you if you have some good protein, you won't struggle as hard with head hunger.

Hang in there,

Suzanne

Hey Cheryl,

You are doing fantastic. I remember when we talked you had some fears and doubts and look at you go now! So you are the perfect person to come along and help some of these other people like you have been doing. Yeah for you. This is all about paying it forward to help the others who are sitting on the fence and trying to make up their minds.

Hugs,

Suzanne

,

I had the same tummy rumblings. I contacted Dr. A and he told me it was stomach acids. My "new" tummy was still making the same quantity of stomach acids that it needed for it's "old" size. He said it would take a while to adjust. He was right. It took about 60 days and suddenly - no more rumbling. Now I have to REMEMBER to eat!

Hang in there girlfriend!

BTW - I have officially lost 50% of my excess weight now! !!!

Remember, hunger is a feeling and not a sound. ;o)On Sun, Sep 19, 2010 at 11:30 AM, allison p <allypad@...> wrote:

Ok, I got sleeved on 9/10/10. I have had alot of ups and downs. The day of surgery was great - I felt great, no problems. The next couple of days were a little rough. I had a lot of pain in my arms - but Dr. Campos gave me a shot of a muscle relaxer which really helped a lot. Physically, I have felt pretty good - incisions are healing well, not much pain and no nausea. I had a rough time getting protein in which I know is normal. The protein shots from Walmart are a good source, but I couldn't do them because they were sickening sweet.

My main issue is hunger. I have been really, really hunger - and I don't think it is head hunger because my stomach rumbles. I started eating egg drop soup which was really good for me and it held off the hunger pangs. I know that it will get better as each day goes on. I am thankful that I don't have to deal with any nausea.

On the bright side, I have lost 16 pounds (yay!). I know that once I get to eat denser food, the hunger will be alleviated. I am hanging in there!

As for going to Dr. Aceves for my surgery - I wouldn't change it for anything! He and his staff are wonderful and you get treated really, really well. When my arms were hurting so bad, they were right on it and made sure I was taken care of.

Take care everyone!
