I don't know if anyone else is posting or not..but i thought that i would

let all of you know that i am here in Cleveland getting ready for surgery

on Thursday. My surgeon has told me to expect anything since he does not

know what he is going to find once he gets in there...like feeding tubes

and chest tubes...kind of scared to think about it all. But i'm sure that

i will make it through it. I just wanted to say Hi to all of you and i

will let you all know how i am doing when i come back to the hotel we are

staying at. Love ya all

Re: hello all

- I have read all your postings with interest and concern and want you

to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you undergo your

surgery and my heart goes out to you.You sound as if you have a positive

attitude and this is a good thing.

It is normal to feel scared, but I have a feeling you will come through with

flying colours. So all the best and keep thinking those positive thoughts.

Dear MJane.....

Thought maybe I could help you being a fellow Illinoisian. (Rockford). I just had my myotomy last week in downtown Chicago at Northwestern Mem Hosp. (Dr. Joehl). We searched for about 2 weeks (with the help of my gastro doc) to find someone close by. I can't tell you how great they were. We narrowed it down to either Mayo's, Madison, or Ohio but chose Northwestern because of the close proximity.

Reply back with your email address if you want to talk personally with me. Donna

Hello all

Well I don't need to tell anyone with this disease how much it is a pain in the butt. I would just like to share a few tips. I have had achalasia for 7 years. I was diagnosed last year after seeing 3 different doctors per week every year. I was diagnosed by a radiologist. Bloomington, normal, peoria, and any doctors associated with central illinois are idiots. (personal opinion) Anyways,I have a classic case birds beak. My findings, besides being alone in the burmuda triangle, are muscle relaxers/pain medication, eating as slow as possible in small portions as many times a day as needed( don't wait until starving),and Hunger serpressants are wonderful. I chose Darvocet for a muscle relaxer and pain killer. I took half a pill when needed or feeling of a pain attack may arise that day( high stress or anxiety days).Best option when pain attack arrives is to center yourself, take deep slow breathes in a squating position. In this position you will squat down, take both arms and rap around legs holding a beverage and head relaxed down. This separates your shoulder blades and relaxes the spine. you want to first want to take slow and long breathes, count to six inhale and same for exhale, sip water after you exhale. The key is to relax and keep the stress down as much as you can in your dayly activities. Pain killers and muscle relaxers may cause nausia and increase the pain attacks if taken during a pain attack or symptoms of an attack. IBprofen is not good to take at all.It will increase and/or create an attack. Over the counter pain killers will not surpress attacks but benedryl with a pain or allergy agent is a great help in getting rid of the attack. I would suggest benedryl allergy (pink box) gel caps. it will cure even nausea. I chose metabolift for a food surpressant. It will not give you weight loss but it will keep cravings from going insane. Herbal energizers are wonderful to keep you going through the day. These things have helped me and I urge everyone to keep fighting. I had to claim disability for this, it took 3 years but it was worth it so that I could keep up in the fight. I started out 150lbs and now I can barely keep my weight at 105lbs. I am 5'5. I keep fighting, though. I hope this will help some of you get though you dayly tasks. Try your best not to get any anxiety or stress,do breathing exercises, and when you feel an attack coming stop get to somewhere quiet and concentrate on centering yourself.Don't panic. Most of all Take care of yourself, this too will pass!

Hi Blue,

back to you as soon as we can. It's usually pretty quick.

Which book have you read? Was that Eat Right?

Don't hesitate if you have a question. There are no silly questions. We look

forward to meeting you also.

Yes, , it was Eat Right. A couple of girls at work were talking

about it and I figured I could at least read it. There are a couple

of areas that fit me to a tee and I looked for a site to find more

info.

Thanks all for the welcome,

Blue

The latest list is on the www.dadamo.com sight.

Once you get the main page, look for Typebase3. There are also about 300

recipes in the Recibase. You'll find both of those in the top middle column.

On your right hand side you'll find a column of articles, some written

daily, and others updated every so often. You can learn more by going over

those and the archives of each. And of course we are always willing to

answer any questions.

Since Eat Right was written there have been 2 other books out. Live Right

will explain the secretor/non-secretor part and the Complete Encyclopedia

written just last year gives the protocols ( lists of what you can try for

different things that you might have.) The research equipment Dr. D can use

has improved a lot since the first book, so there have been some food

changes also, as he has been able to research in more detail. You might want

to check with your local library and see if they have either one of these

in. If so, check them out and see if you want get a copy. Just keep working

at it and after a while, the lists of foods for beneficial and neutral will

be all you think about in the grocery store and the avoids won't be hard to

stay away from.

Thanks for the warm welcome, will grab the licensing info in the next few

days and try to get it to you by next week sadly I am using my boyfriends

internet connection right now so I don't have regular access. So as soon

as I can get back here I'll send it off to you.

** CPhTs just need to apply (no test needed), pay the fee (not sure the

cost off the top of my head)- all pharmacy employees need to registered

before the end of the year, will get the exact date too.

Dear Beth,

Hi ,My name is Donna. I also work at a C V S, in Georgia.

I have my C V S Technician Certificate..is that what you are referring to as

being licensed?

Welcome to this group, it is a great site to help you in preparing for the

national certification exam.

Hello all

Hi - I'm new, use to be on delphi a few years back, and I'm finally biting

the bullet and testing on the 16th. I just took the online practice test

and only got 107 right - I'm still having trouble with some of the ratio,

proportions and dulsions ...I hate math.

I will be rereading the study notes that were sent when I joined

...awesome notes. Thanks all.

Mass just starting requiring all pharmacy staff be licensed (haven't done

the final paper work but did pass my exam last thursday.), so unoffically

I'm licensed I guess.

Hi Donna,

Wow Georgia ... this place is amazing, there are techs from all over.

NO it is a new requirement in MA to be licensed/registered with the state,

seperate from being tech certified or nationally certified...it requires a

seperate test (only for those NOT nationally certified as of 12/30 I

think- and it includes PSAs - anyone who works in the pharmacy) I will be

sending more info to the forum once I get the paperwork from work (I hope

I filed it away lol).

Took the test today ...hope I passed

Thanks for the hello,

Gotta run ..waiting in bin tonight yuck.

I *will* congratulate you for this. My dad has been having that same problem

for over a year, but his doctor just can't seem to find the right

combination of meds that will work more than a day or so. He takes over a

dozen different medications (Hey, he's 72 with cancer, high BP, high

cholesterol, etc. It would be unusual to *not* have a load of meds) and

there are so many meds that he can't take while taking others.

You said it!

So far, so good. I enjoy having control of the stereo again and can listen

to the Carpenters rather than Ministry for a change. :)

Sue - hope your father's doctor figures out his meds soon. My mother was pretty

much incapacitated for 2 years because of problems with her meds. She could not

walk or stand up without assistance for fear of passing out or falling. Turns

out it was the blood pressure medicine she had been on for 15 years! Meds can

do wonders, but boy they sure can make our lives misearable at the same time.

Enjoy the music you get to play .......

- the Tylenol PM has been part of my life for many years - they also make

simply sleep which is the sleep portion without the pain reliever. The problem

this time was that the insomnia was not temporary - it went on for six weeks and

got progressively worse. To the point where I got about 90 minutes of sleep

every day. And my other concern with using something like this daily was the

possibility of getting hooked on it and developing that problem! Fortunately

changing from Nexium to Prevacid has seemed to help the problem.

Thanks though,
