Guest guest
Duncan, are L. Acidophilus, L. Bifidum, L. Casei, Rhamnosis, L. Bulgaricus, and B. Longum soil-based organisms? Guest guest
Based on my experiences, I am going to have to disagree. Six years ago, I took an intensive course of PD after both a Candidiasis diagnosis in 1998 and then a cancer diagnosis in 2001. After just a few days on the intensive dosage protocol, I felt like I'd been on a boat for a few days, then felt something " detach " from my inner abdominal wall (left side). The next day I passed two huge white masses. Obviously, I didn't need those. My doctor at the time (an immunologist in Ireland) diagnosed this as amoebiasis, or a possible situation where many parasites gather in one spot to form what is often identified as a tumor by various " health pros " and their machines. It was one of these health pros who fired the first shot in 1996 with an antibiotic overdose that got me sick in the first place. Having taken a year and a half long course of anti-neoplastics (Cansema, some others) before starting the Primal Defense, I have found that these neoplastics not only react to cancers, but to locations where parasitic infection is severe, both externally and internally. How interesting, and I've been reading more and more evidence regarding the connection between parasites and cancer. But, giving credit where it is due: it was the Primal Defense taken several months after the course of anti-neoplastics, at intensive doses, that expelled the two masses. I have not had a recurrence since. Guest guest
Alison, you disagree that many health pros eschew soil-based organisms? Search deeper (e.g. sutherland licheniformis) I found hundreds of examples of health people withdrawing support for SBOs, even though the general population of course is swayed more by the slick marketing. We can expect that, but consumers in the E.U. are lobbying to stop using it, even in animal feed! Bear in mind that bacillus licheniformis, proposed to be one of the " cancer microbes " identified by Royal Rife, was a main bone of contention, not so much the unknown repercussions from factors you might eat in a self-treatment. Glad it did something for YOU, but 'nuff said! I won't touch it myself. Guest guest
Hi Duncan, Not sure I follow you re: " lichenformis " , as I've been using the NOW formulation that mimics PD (for a lot less $$). Here is a list of NOW Probiotic Defense ingredients, FYI: Freeze-Dried Probiotic Strains (1 Billion CFU): Lactobacillus Acidophilus Bifidobacterium Lactis Lactobacillus Brevis Lactobacillus Casei Lactobacillus Plantarum Lactobacillus Rhamnosus Lactobacillus Salivarius Lactobacillus Paracasei Lactobacillus Bulgaricus Bifidobacterium Bifidum Bifidobacterium Brevis Bifidobacterium Longum Saccharomyces Boulardii Fermented Greens: Barley Grass Oat Grass Wheat Grass Alfalfa Super Green Foods: Alfalfa Juice Concentrate, Atlantic Kelp and Dulse Other Ingredients: Cellulose (capsule) Fermented Molasses Probiotic Cultures Magnesium Stearate Chicory Root Inulin/FOS Silica Other details as stated on the label: Suitable for lacto-vegetarians. Contains milk derivatives. The friendly bacteria contained in this product are commonly found as soil organisms. ----END INFO I don't see any of this " lichenformis " on here, and supposedly this is a near-copy of the Garden of Life product. The incident where I passed the two masses happened in 2003, so that was the version of Primal Defense that I was taking at the time. Whatever was in that was similar, and did it ever work! It no doubt saved me thousands in US medical bills with the " private " insurance racket they still have going on. I was told to try the NOW product as it is basically the same, but the cost is much more reasonable than Primal Defense (Garden of Life, please take note). I acquired it via AllStarHealth.com for around 15 US dollars for 90 vcaps: http://www.allstarhealth.com/f/now-probiotic_defense.htm Unlike the picture they show on the site, the product did come in a nice brown glass bottle. Cheers, Alison > > > > > > Not really news anymore but watch out for Primal Defense > > > > > > ><http://www.listen2yourgut.com/blog/gut/bacterial-soil-organisms-hsos-sos-sbos-\ etc/> > > > > > > all good, > > > > > > Duncan > > > > > >
Guest guest
Alison, the contentious bacillus licheniformis is not in the Now SBO mix, only in Primal Defense (PD is the usual acronym for Primal Defense, which has been plagued with the association of their b.licheniformis additive with cancer). I'm familiar with SBOs but I won't use them I advocate caution, as a lot of European and North American health professionals also do, when using any bacteria that is non-native to the human bowel. SBO spores are durable and extremely hard to get rid of. In the E.U. there's a movement to get them out of animal feed even though they're more likely to occur in some animals' digestive tract than in humans'. Guest guest
I have the PD formula here, and there is no b.licheninformis listed on the label, however, it does have " homeostatic soil organisms. " And, yikes, I " m almost thru with the 60 capsules. I've been doing better than ever with candida symptoms, almost no bloating or GI complaints, etc. Amazingly well, after over 1.5 years following a strict candida diet and the whey, etc. Could it be the PD....and these spores that are " helping " the candida? (Had been slowly getting better up til the PD, but have been so pleased lately, and then I read this post....yikes.) Well, the idea of these spores and all that...am throwing out the rest. Scarey.
