Recommended dosage on the undenatured whey seems to vary with

manufacturer but with the isolates, about 60-70 grams or so and the

concentrates, more like 75 grams or so. Body builders take roughly

double that or more to better promote anabolic lean tissue

generation; this of course is also a healing and recovery move so

might be a consideration also for sick and heavy people who wish to

repair and get to their right body mass index more quickly.

Selenium dose for healthy people is about 200 mcg, and up to around

600 mcg if one is not healthy.

Duncan, what would be the amount of inulin for a not-healthy person? My

husband has undergone 2 surgeries, and between them he has lost 45 pounds,

lots of muscle along with the fats. He is now home and starting the healing

process, so I want to start him on these 3 things, along with other things I

have. His surgeries were colonostomy and its reversal (diverticulitis) so

they loaded him up on antibiotics and for the last surgery (a week ago) they

also gave him pills to sterilize his colon so that there would be no

infection when the bowels were rejoined. Which means, basically, he has no

good bacteria left in his system! Soooo--I do have good probiotics, but

know you have said that the inulin helps the probiotics multiply, but am not

sure how much he should take. He does have to start slowly to make sure

nothing binds up his colon, and I have seen people mention that inulin gives

them diarrhea. He already has that still, because it takes a while for the

colon to again form normal stools. I don't want to make his diarrhea

worse. Oh, I have the Now inulin

thanks

, the correct inulin amount is the same for unhealthy as healthy

people (1 tsp 3x or 4x daily) because in both cases we're culturing

the same number of probiotics per cc in about the same amount of

fecal slurry. Reconsider an M.D.'s advice to use large amounts of

whole grains because this may easily make the bowel ecology

unfavourable unless huge amounts of probiotic are taken along with

it; as VSL#3, at 140 billion per dose, would qualify, this could be

about 20-40 normal capsules per dose 3x to 4x a day with meals.

In the case of vitamin and mineral malabsorption, the more unhealthy

people should " best guess " an increase of vitamin and mineral doses

to allow for suboptimal gut absorption due to the inflammation.

To increase or preserve muscle mass your husband would use more

undenatured whey.

Elderly people may also need to increase HGH release to youthful

levels with SomaLife gHP even if they are exercising, because

excercise would only release the amount of HGH that pertains to their

age group without the SomaLife.

Increased HGH release also substantially increases healing speed to

be more like the kids'; they can bounce back from serious injury like

no elderly person due to their higher HGH release. This is because

all cell division and repair absolutely requires adequate HGH levels,

and these levels fall with biological age so often aren't what you'd

call adequate for fast repair. Thus, HGH release can be the weakest

link in healing after you've attended to nutrition, and this is the

reason anti-agers carefully attend to this variable just like the

rest.

Thanks Duncan. I usually ignore M.D.'s advice. :-) They are so great at

trauma, but terrible for chronic stuff.

20 to 40 capsules, 3 times a day! Whew. That's a meal it itself. I've

pretty well figured out what he needs to do to get back to health, I just

wasn't sure about the inulin. One more question about the inulin--should it

be take at the same time as the probiotics? Would it make the bowel more

hospitable for the probiotics to take hold, or would it be better to take

them at different times during the day?

Ah yes--your anti-aging routine. :-) I will see where we can fit the HGH

into his protocol. It's a bit of money to get him into shape right now, he

needs so much nutrition wise, and there are the hospital bills to consider.

sigh The insurance certainly doesn't cover what it use to cover.

, as I've just pointed out to MJ, VSL#3 comes in a pouch because

at 450 billion probiotic organisms you can't realistically eat enough

capsules unless you use some of the 35 billion per cap formulas.

The lower doses will work but take longer though, and taking

probiotics with inulin allows longer contact time between the

probiotics and their feed, and that improves numbers faster.

VSL #3 can be ordered through the companies website. Google VSL #3

and you can find it easily.

I would check out www.customprobiotics.com though. You can get the

same thing pretty much, but at a quarter of the cost. It's in powder

form, so you can take as little or as much as you want per dose.

Buddy,

Thanks for the link. Do you think that the Adult CP-1 formula is comperable to

VLS #3 or would you suggest asking customp. to make

the same strains as listed in the VLS?

Thanks again,
