FOS in acidophilus

I'm thinking of trying high doses of acidophilus to help with my

stubborn constipation problem, but I just heard that FOS might not be

a good idea. Do you think it's the case that it feeds more bad

bacteria than it does good?

The acidiophilus I have that I thought was high quality both have FOS.

The DDS-PLUS Acidophilus Bifidus-FOS isn't clear on the amount, but

the HMF Replete has 9 grams of FOS per 10 billion each of acidophilus,

bifidus and bulgaricus.

I did find I also have another one by Nature's Sunshine but was

surprised to see the first ingredient has Maltodextrin! There's no

FOS in this one, but no idea why they would use maltodextrin.

Anyway, can any of these be used or shall I just scrap them all? Thanks,

Elyse
