Educate your jokelists, classmates, Church members, your friends and most importantly your family members. You just might save someone's life! :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Did you know that: *about 5 million people in the U.S. have Hepatitis C? *less than 1/3 even know they have it? *the liver is a non-complaining organ so you could have liver cirrhosis and not even know it? *there is not a vaccine for Hepatitis C? *it is transmitted blood to blood and most everyone has some type of risk factor? *it can live outside the body for up to 4 days? It has been transmitted in hospitals, pain clinics, MD offices, dental offices, tattoo parlors, beauty and barber shops, endoscopy centers, cancer centers, kidney dialysis units, reuse of multi-dose vials and tubing, IV or intranasal drug use – even once 40 years ago, blood transfusion before 1992 etc. Any place a blood to blood transmission might occur *Hepatitis C is almost five times more prevalent than HIV? Have YOU been tested for Hepatitis C? Please ask your doctor to add it to your next lab tests! Did you know that: *1 in 12 people in the world has some form of hepatitis? *equals almost 500 million people? *about 1 million people a year die from hepatitis? *Hepatitis C is the leading cause of liver transplants in the U.S. ? *about 2/3 of people waiting for a liver transplant in the U.S. will die waiting because there aren't enough organs to "go around"? (Please sign your organ donor cards!) *about 17,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for a liver transplant? Do you find these statistics staggering??
