Guest guest
, Cordyceps is a fungus that I believe grows on a mushroom. It comes primarily from China although Ethical Botanicals and a couple other US companies sell it in tincture or pill form. This is the stuff the Chinese women's swim team took years ago when they unexpectedly won all those races. My brother-in-law has taken it for years and believes it has improved his marathon times. I've tried it for CFS and did not find any noticeable benefit. Steve B. Re: Liver Detox test--PLEASE HELP wrote <<<1) Superoxide Dismutase-VERY VERY LOW Anyone know what increases this? Dr. Burrascanno (lyme disease specialist) says that cordyceps raises SOD and is proven to do so. I think he even said it was the only thing proven to do so. check out his papers in the online library at www.lymenet.org It's probably in there. This is all from memory, so DYOR (do your own research). I noticed that cordyceps is available from www.beyond-a-century.com in bulk form. I think it's some kind of fungus. their catalog says it increases T cell, NK cells, increases SOD, lowers serum lipids, improves kidney function, raises cAMP and ATP levels creates super athletes blah blah. ... My doctor recommended it to me a few years ago, but I never followe through. It was expensve, but seems more afordale through B-A-C E. Guest guest
What about Quercetin? Has he tried it? I don't know if Nature's Sunshine is water extracted, but you can get cordyceps from them and their products are generally of good quality from what I have heard. Guest guest
Cordyceps is " caterpillar fungus " ; it's used in Chinese, Tibetan, and Indian traditional medicine as an immune stimulant, adaptogen, for sexual dysfunction (in men) and to alleviate fatigue. No known bad side effects, although allegedly it might lower blood sugar. Here's the entry from Sloan-Kettering Memorial, " About Herbs " http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/69193.cfm You'll need to click the " accept " button to get to the above page. My boyfriend has been taking an Ayurvedic mixture with cordyceps for about a month; no noticeable improvement. > > Does or has anyone used cordyceps? Guest guest
R-Garden has been considered a " quality company " since it first started in business in the early 90s. I've been using their QuadraZyme digestive enzymes ever since. I also like the fact that I can buy separate, single enzymes from them, which are not easy to find. I've used their Cordyceps, but without enough consistency to be able to report on it. They started as an MLM company, but seem to have opened up the doors to everyone. Apparently one can still 'build a business' with a downline, but it doesn't make much sense since anyone can just go to their site and order. Sharon M > > Does or has anyone used cordyceps? Guest guest
Cordyceps Hi Everyone Does or has anyone used cordyceps? Or familiar with a company called R Garden Inc out of Kettle Falls, WA? One of my Uncles is really into using herbs and supplements. He stopped by this week with a booklet full of testimonials about this herb from the company. And he said he ordered some for me. I did check out their website and searched , but didn't really find any info that gave me any good clarification about it. Of course I will check with my docs before using it, but as always like to hear from anyone who may have info or experience with either one. Thanks! Guest guest
Cordyceps BenefitsNowadays Cordyceps Sinensis is something new, special, and hardly familiar to the Western world. Scientists have not managed to study it properly for the time being. The greatest source of information about Cordyceps is its motherland – China, where researchers have already been working for some time on the unclosing the secrets and mysteries of the fungus. The further statements about health benefits of the mushroom are the results of the numerous Chinese trials of Cordyceps; therefore, they are at first hand. Enhancing and strengthening of the immune system. Cordyceps is supposed to increase the number of the Natural Killer Cells, which are responsible for the body defense against viruses and bacteria. Some trials show that the fungus works effectively in the leukemia stricken individuals. Improving sexual function in men and increasing libido by stimulating the production of sex hormones. Cordyceps may also be a means for fighting female infertility. Building muscles and improving physical performance. Those Chinese athletes, who use Cordyceps, tend to show better results than the other sportsmen. Providing anti-aging and fatigue reducing effects. The fungus works as an antioxidant and increases cellular formation, especially in the elderly patients. It also promotes more restful sleep, soothes the nervous system, and reduces anxiety, thus working as a sedative. Improving the respiratory function. Cordyceps shows good results in fighting against cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma, since it relaxes bronchial walls and has anti-inflammatory properties. Enhancing cellular oxygen uptake. This benefits all the body systems, giving them more energy and vitality. Benefiting vascular system by improving circulation, regulating blood pressure, and strengthening the heart muscle. Protecting liver and kidneys. Cordyceps improves blood flow to these organs (as well as to the others), which results in their better activity and ability to fight the diseases, including Hepatitis and chronic kidney disease. Some people may think of the fungi as of something disgusting and ugly. However, the mushrooms do not look so when in a tablet or a capsule. Moreover, Cordyceps will definitely become even attractive to those, who have no trust in the pharmaceutical drugs any more. 2-4 grams (some people consume even up to 9 grams) of the mushrooms per day – it is nor an exorbitant price for the health improvement, which may become obvious as soon as in 1-2 months. Cordyceps is said to be safe and has no side effects. However, pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as children are not recommended to use it, since no studies have been conducted in such persons. Luckily, time, progress, and the growing demands of the modern society make the scientists keep on working on the unsolved problems and open questions of today. That gives us hopes that soon Cordyceps will become an open book easy to read and understand for all the people. -- [ ] Vitamin C - Liver Cancer - Lypo-Spheric Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 10:05 AM Once you reach stage 3 or 4 (cirrhosis), then your next concern is liver cancer. One of the numerous alternative treatments to combat cancer of all forms is Vitamin C saturation in the form of IV drips. I have been getting these myself for a year or two. But they are costly $150 - $175 a pop, and I think you need to do them often for them to be affective. I took this IV as a preventative measure, but can't afford to continue at any regularity. Gloria mentioned a friend with liver cancer. This is a tip I recently received but have not tried. It is called Lypo-Spheric. A more afordable approach to getting the Vitamin C directly into the liver cells. There's also a short video that explains how it works. I haven't tried it, but I'm likely to, as that is my nature. Someone on one of these forums dubbed the "Rocket" portion of my name due to all the wacky and potent methods I've used through the years, from food-grade hydrogen peroxide to frozen natcell thymus. But I think this one also deserves a serious look. http://livonlabs.com/ Has anyone tried or heard of this product? RocketRon

Guest guest
Fungus, yes. Not really a mushroom. Mushrooms are fungus, also. I will find out the difference later.
