I've had two back surgeries, PercNuk at L-4/L-5 and a Laminectomy Diskectomy with a Forinatomy in the same area. I now have at least 4 other herniated disks, 2 cervical and 1 thoracic, and another lumbar. Been turned down for SSD twice, no big surprise there! Just looking for someone else that is having the same problems that I am having. Want to bounce ideas off and see if I can come up with my own plan for living with this! Guest guest
Hi , I had an endoscopic discectomy in May of 06, while it wasn't failed it offered me an extention on my life... I have a chance to go to Stenum hospital...I am told they have a very successful procedure with the disc replacements. I know once you have fusion there is no going back in from the way I understand it. I also know they do multilevel disc replacements...so see if that works for you. I am not completely aware of all the procedure you had, but perhaps they have something for you. Guest guest
The fight must go on ! First though is get an attorney now that you have your 2 denials. Next, make you keep EVERYTHING you get from ANY treatment. I went thru the same ordeal and finally got my disability after 3 years of fighting my ass off. The fun part was the fact that after all that crap, I DID, afterall need surgery. I am going to my 2nd surgery for cervical disk replacement on 6/30 C4- 5-6. I am one of only 7 to receive this particular type of disk called a Neodisk in the south. Really pretty cool because it gives me full range of motion as opposed to a fusion. The 1st one didnt take well however, and there are fragments aggravating nerves, plus he will have to " clean up " the osteophytes that apparently still exist. And thats just the beginning. I still have lordosis that is causing bulged disk in my lower lumbar. The hard part for me is the fact that I have lost everyone close to me thru my ordeal. So, now im dealing with emotional issues that might just be irreparable. I am fortunate to have my music and an 82 year old woman that is now my dear friend. Guest guest
, I have been diagnosed with failed back surgery syndrome. I had a Microdiscectomy at L2/L3. and I have been in worse been ever since. I now am battling pain from discs L2--L5 and C3=C7. I have just started applying for SSI so I guess that means I will be turned down too. Time will tell. Donna spinal problems From: boom77boom@... Guest guest
I had an attorney with this last denial. Of course, the attorney dropped me like a hot potato! My problem is finding a doctor that is willing to treat me. None of the doctors here are willing. They are either afraid of Social Security or afraid of the liability and sometimes both. I can't get to the larger metropolitian areas for treatment. I make regular trips to the ER and will continue to do so until I find a doctor that will treat me!!! I will not give up, it goes against my nature. I've been fighting this for 19 years! Got hurt in 1989 and it has gone down hill for the most part ever since! Now I'm at the point that I can only work one day per month and only for a couple of hours. The guy that I spoke with today stated that my condition is listed in the guide as acceptable for disability! Go Figure!!! > > The fight must go on ! Guest guest
They would not do a fusion on me. Now I have multiple herniated disks in my back! My pain increased after surgery and physical therapy made me worse!!! Of course, I went for every appointment! I had to teach myself how to get around because they were useless!!! I did it and even went back to work for several years. Now I cannot work and they still do not want to help me! Bless your heart! I do feel for you! Pain is not easy to live with and having a doctor not listen to you because you haven't waited the prescribed amount of time is just bogus as far as I am concerned!!! > > I had a lumbar laminectomy at L3/4/5, now failed back syndrome. & nbsp; Had a lumbar fusion w/hardware, L4/5, L5/S1, failed as far as I am concerned because pain is worse, although the 18 months has not expired to be considered failed/taken. > & nbsp; > Annie in TN > > > > > From: L. boom77boom@... > Subject: Anyone in the group diagnosed with Failed Back Syndrome > spinal problems > Date: Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 1:29 PM > > > > > > > > Hey Y'all, > > I'm looking for anyone that has been diagnosed with Failed Back Syndrome > after unsucessful back surgeries. Guest guest
Having been down the Social Security road twice now, I refiled again today! What a major pain, but I'm doing what I am supposed to be doing!! Maybe this time they will actually send me to a doctor instead of sending the doctor my reports!!! Good luck with your filing! I hope that you get it the first time out! It just amazes me that they expect us to work with the pain that we have! I would love to work again! I don't like lying down all day and not getting much done! It drives me crazy!!! > > , > I have been diagnosed with failed back surgery syndrome. Guest guest
Hi , I had a doc appt today with pain management. my bf works with a guy that his wife found an excellent spine surgeon . She used to be just like i am with chronic pain. He operated on her and she is almost like new, so at my appt today I begged to have a referral to this doctor and pain managemt agreed!!!! I sure hope this new doc can help me like he did my bf's coworker's wife!! I am hurting so bad today. they gave me a shot of toradol in the office today. Its helped some but not alot. The only thing I can do is lay down and not do anything... I wish you luck with ur new filing too . Maybe we both will get lucky one way or the other. Donna spinal problems From: boom77boom@... Guest guest
Thanks Tim!I've already talked to 15 attorneys. Found one that will take my case, but ONLY if I can find a doctor that will treat me. So that is where my focus has been lately! Not having alot of luck but still moving in that direction!!! You are right, it is their goal to wear US down. Go in with a " mental " disability and you get it right away!!! I think that's the part that drives me crazy! I know people who have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM, yet they are getting SSD and SSI because they have claimed to have mental problems! They don't behave like they have mental problems to the point that they cannot work, but then again, they don't have to, I guess! My children are all grown so the only thing that I get is food stamps. Thank heavens for that. IF I can prove that I am disabled, then I would get the state Medi-Cal, but they do the same thing that Social Security does! GO FIGURE!!! Please don't worry that I am going to give up! I NEVER give up!!! > > Their goal is to wear u down and relent. They figure that most people arent willing to fight back. I would definitely find another attorney though. It may take a few to get thru but eventually you will find the right one. Again, make sure you check their background first! Ya might wanna check out medicaid for emergency help. Some states are good about it and some are not. If you have children though, it should be automatic. > > smiles......Tim > > > Rock Hard Rock Forever! > > >

Guest guest
Thanks ! I think the worst part for me is the left over stuff after the second surgery. I had cauda equina and I still am without most of the feeling on the right leg and hip. It's a cool parlor trick when I can stab needles in my leg and not feel it! Hee hee hee! I did the injections and the first one worked for about 36 hours. The second one increased the pressure in my spine and made me worse. The neurosurgeon that I saw said that should have been a clue to my original surgeoun that failed back syndrome would happen! He says they never should have done the second surgery! I don't know that I agree with that, but it does give me something to think about! Again, I'll take all the prayer that I can get! I want to be able to work, but at it stands right now I can work about 2 hours one day out of every 14! Hee hee hee! Not enough to pay the bills, but better than nothing at all! I do feel blessed that I have not been plagued with depression and some of the other things that I've read about, but I think I have enough on my plate as it stands right now! > > HI OMG YOU MUST BE IN SO MUCH PAIN, I HAD CERVICAL FUSION A DISC > WAS DIGGIN IN SPINE ALMOST PARALYZED THEN I HAD HERNIATED AT L4 OMG I > HAVE NEVER FELT AIN LIKE THAT I COULDNT WALK, NOW HAD SHOTS DONE > STEROID WHICH TOOK 2YRS TO GIVE ME CAUSE DIABETES AND I FEEL 70 > PERCENT BETTER , I AM PRAYING FOR YOU .... Guest guest
Hi Tim, I am in the high desert area just east of the Sierra Nevada mountains, in a town called Ridgecrest. I am originally from Arkansas, moved from there to Lakeside, CA and then to here. The humidity levels in Lakeside were way too high for the arthritis that developed after my two surgeries. > > where are u from ? > > Tim > > > Rock Hard Rock Forever! > > >
Guest guest
Thanks for the link, Tim! Where did you read that this was caused by a chiropractor? I did not find that part! Yep! I'm a little too far away to get to Florida! I can't sit for that long unfortunately! I have to agree with your mother! At least get a second opinion before you let them cut on you! You will be glad that you did! Make sure that you ask if they can guarantee that they will take the pain out of your back. On the operating table is when they told me that they would remove the pain from my legs, but the pain in the back would still be there! NOT A GREAT TIME TO TELL ME THIS!!! Keep me posted! > > oh ok.....well the reason I asked was just to see if you were near Florida so I guess that would be a no....lol. > > I just spoke with my mom as well, who as I said, had that same surgery. She did not have anything cut in the spine thank god. She is recovering very well but still discourages me gettin it. I dont think I have a choice. > > Check this out though......you wont believe it!! This is why I dont go to a chiropractor.
