richard--that is probably one of the things triggering my asthma. Mold and I am

sensitive to aspergilliosis. I am taking prednisone, and intal and flovent.

Are you taking xolair now? Leigh

Hey guys,

Everyone is different and needs to consult their own dr, but let me

tell you my story. I was hospialized several times with severe

asthma.I did mega doses of oral and IV steroids, advair, and xolair.

The steroids screwed up my immune system,I ended up with MRSA,

enterobacter and aspergillis in my lungs. The aspergillis literally

distroyed 2/3's of my left lung. It had to be surgically removed and

the remaining lung rebuilt. My infectious disease dr is a genius. He

believed the aspergillis had been there a while; we don't know how

long. The low immune system gave it a chance to take off. He thinks

I had ABPA before the surgery, and unfortunately, after the

resection. I continued to have problems and ended up with

aspergillis in a disc and 2 vertebra. I had a pic line and took IV

Casperfungin for 6mos. The really strange thing that as the

infection in my back resolved, so did the asthma. I had a flare up

last winter but that was it. Now, I take xolair and THAT'S IT!!! I

haven't used my nebs or other meds in 10 mos. My drs tell me they

have never seen anything like me. I can't believe I'm saying this

but the aspergillis in my back was one of the best things to happen

to me. I don't think my treatment was a normal way to deal with ABPA.

Just PLEASE be careful with steroids.

Because Xolair binds to the IgE cells so that they cannot bind to

the mast cell upon the introduction of an allergen, Xolair should

mediate any allergic condition regardless of the allergen. It has

helped all of my allergic conditions, not just my allergic asthma.
