Guest guest Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 As people get older, their sense of smell diminishes and they don't realize that they're dosing up so much they are gassing out the whole church. Also, people lose the ability to smell themselves. It's a protection mechanism whereby we smell things that are not self so that we aren't overwhelmed with the smell of self. Unfortunately, that means that when people put on perfume, they want to OD so that they can continue to smell it on themselves hours later, completely oblivious to how annoying they are to anyone, asthma or not. Sometimes I sit in the choir's area when the choir isn't there since it's up a flight of stairs where no one else goes. Other times I have leave and wait outside for my wife until the service is over. The all time winner was when some goofball was stenched up with mothballs. Haha, leaves me wondering where he got those fancy clothes he was wearing. Anyway, he gassed me right out of the church in short order. Quote
Guest guest Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Doug, I'm so sorry to hear about your setback. I'm glad you've gone so long without one, but it still has to be disappointing. You have such a great attitude about it though! I suppose we should be grateful for the evil candy since it often does the trick when nothing else will. If only there was a version of evil candy that had no side effects! Hang in there! Quote
