Guest guest
The evil candy destroys some people. I was at my allergist's office today and one guy was there has developed severe food allergies after taking just a 30 day course of prednisone. He can tolerate only 6 to 8 foods now and that is it. It weakened his immune system. I have had 2 rounds of xolair and it seems as if I " notice " dust and mold more now but maybe they are just more noticeable at this time of the year. Round 3 is the day after Christmas. My pulmonologist has his patients to self-administer after the 3rd round. Do most doctors go this route? My thyroid bit the dust aout 7 years ago.The steroids send my thyroid levels soaring.(the highest was 52;normal is less than 4) Unlike diabetes, correcting a TSH isn't immediate, it takes about 6 wks. There is a website called the steroid warning network; everyone there has dealt with the side effects of the evil candy. They were a BIG help to me. I was in the hospital with half a lung looking like swiss cheese,(aspergillis destroyed it) and my O2 sats never dropped below 95%. I even had some RN's think I was faking the severity of my attacks;until they listened to my lungs! Xolair is worth every cent just to keep me off the evil candy. becki > > > > I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism and wonder if others also have an > > auto-immune issue. Guest guest
Self-administration of Xolair now depends just as much on the insurance carrier as the doctor. When Xolair first came out, some insurance carriers in my state would not cover for the cost of administering the shot, so a lot of us got switched to self- administration. Some doctors and insurance carriers are to " afraid " for lack of a better word to do that. I gave myself my own allergy shots for years, so it was not a big deal for me to give myself Xolair. Now the shipment comes directly to my house, not to the doctor's office. I get the maximum dose, and it takes about 30 minutes to make up all three vials, so there's a huge cost to any doctor's office who has a number of patients on Xolair to continue to administer it to them at the office. > > > > > > I have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism and wonder if others also have > an > > > auto-immune issue.
