Guest guest Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 The dose depends on your IgE level and your weight. The higher the levels the higher the dose. The minimum dose is 150 per month and the highest is 375 every two weeks per the attached chart. It is my understanding that you will be on Xolair forever but someone recently mentioned they thought it could be discontinued after 3 or so years. Based on my personal experience, I think that is highly unlikely. I expect (and hope) to be on it for the rest of my life. http://www.xolair.com/hcp/dosing.jsp svpride4000 <svpride4000@...> wrote: Can anyone tell me how much dosage on average you are taking.. how often? Last one said I was the next candidate for Xolair and from the sounds of it I should look forward to it! Need to talk to new Dr. and wonder if anyone can give me some idea of what they are telling you for dosage and how long you need to be on it? Thanks! --------------------------------- Sponsored Link $420,000 Mortgage for $1,399/month - Think You Pay Too Much For Your Mortgage? Find Out! Quote
Guest guest Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 It is dosed by ige level and your body weight. Some people take it monthly and others take it twice a month. My first injection is tomorrow. This is just my opinion but you should start the process asap because I had to make over 100 phone calls between Single Point of Contact, my insurance company, my doctor, Genentech's pharmacy, my insurance company pharmacy and the ultimate dispensing pharmacy. It took 3 weeks and would have gone on forever had my spouse not gotten involved. svpride4000 <svpride4000@...> wrote: Can anyone tell me how much dosage on average you are taking.. how often? Guest guest Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 i just wanted to comment if i may. My sons dr told me they only like to keep patients on the xolair for at least 3 years to see how they do unless they are very severe case. like my son... they are going to keep him on his xolair for 4 more years and maybe 1st year of college, so we shall see what happens. i wish all the best to everyone on here.. good luck.... have a asthma free day. Guest guest Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Maybe by that time (the time your son hits college) Genentech will have come out with a test that can distinguish Xolair-bound IgE from " free " IgE and/or be able to tell us if our bodies are manufacturing new IgE. My doc suspects that I am always manufacturing new IgE and that I will probably always need Xolair. (Actually, my doc told me that they have a test that can measure the free IgE, but so far it can't be replicated outside the Genentech lab due to expense and lack of portability.) Maybe by that time we won't have to mix it up either! Guest guest Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 my husband's nephew is a biochemist at Genentech so I am going to check into the free ige bloodtest. do I understand that as I one ige mediated sensitivity is cured that others come? that would explain why my allergies and asthma seem worse when away from my old house that I itch and wheeze in and why I also have to keep moving around from place to place. I am moving soon to a very clean 7 year old house which has always been pet free, plug in free, no bug treatments and very clean with mostly hardwoods and built on a slab foundation. no1friend621 <no1friend621@...> wrote: Yes hopefully they will have a cure for asthma for everyone.... but this truly is a blessing for my son so far.... he still has lil flar ups once in a while but not like he did. good luck to everyone...
