Guest guest Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 , I just joined the group recently. I will tell you that I have suffered from confirmed asthma for 8 years my asthma is quite severe. I have only wheezed once and at that time I had pneumonia. I am told it is considered silent asthma. Not everyone will produce a lot of mucus to cause wheezing. My lungs (as yours did) will become so inflamed that they will restrict breathing and more importantly oxygen exchange. I can go into the ER and they will administer 3 consecutive breathing treatments after these I can move closer to a normal volume of air but still have a low O2 level. Unfortunately the only thing I will respond to is large amounts of intravenous Medrol. But believe me after all the different ER doctors have seen my condition they now know the procedure they must take, if they don't then one call to my pulmonologist will set them straight. It can be very frustrating to have an asthma attack and have medical personnel tell you your OK. Hang in there your not in uncharted waters. musiclover0 <musiclover0@...> wrote: hey, everyone! i hope you are all doing well! okay, i happened to think of something, and i am hoping that i find this common. i mentioned before that a couple of months ago i was hospitalized 2 times b/c if asthma. and both times i didn't really wheeze. i was really tight and i was out of breath really easy. they said a couple of times that i was wheezing, but is it always true that you wheeze during an asthma attack, b/c i have heard that it is, but my doctor said that it was an asthma flare, but he also said that i wasn't wheezing alot. so i was a little confused. - Quote
