It is great you two are finally getting your first shots.

I remember mine in August 2003.

I was the first person in Arkansas to receive Xolair. I had to drive

135 miles and back to Little Rock (270 miles round trip) to get my shots.

After the first 6 months, I was very dissapointed because it seemed

that it was not working. My asthma had not improved at all and I was

driving there and back 2 times a month.

Four months later, I moved to my present area The allergist here had

also started using Xolair for some of his patients. Eight months

later, I finally felt the effects of the Xolair. It was gradual for me.

Remember, give it time. Your journey to easier breathing has just begun :)

Thanks, Doug, for the reminder. Even my nurse was excited for me! And your

story is very encouraging. My doctor's clinic has been giving the shots since

2003 and has 50 patients just at this clinic. He has another clinic in another

part of town--don't know how many patients there are getting the shots. His

nurse told me there had been only one mild reaction--one patient had a knot in

her arm after the first shot, which gradually went down, but has not had any

knots since and there have been no other adverse reactions to the shots at this

clinic. They watch their patients very closely and keep very detailed records

on how we feel before the shots, and each time we go in, we have to report how

we have done. Guess I will keep my diary up to date, as sometimes it is hard to

remember exactly how I felt--shortness of breath, or coughing, or wheezing.

Thanks again for your encouragement and for reminding us to be patient.
