Guest guest Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 I've been on Xolair for 8 months and just as I started to see some improvement, I caught a terrible respiratory virus which set off the worst asthma attack ever. I have been on prednisone 40 (plus 3 days 60) for 2 weeks. Asthma is still bad so will have to take another round or more. I am wondering what is the usual dosage and period of time involved with these bursts? In the past, I have always required 3 rounds of pred to stop the asthma. My doctor's partner prescribed it differently with higher doses for a longer time. At what point do you usually taper down? I'm scared of the side effects, but asthma is so bad right now I can't worry too much about them. He told me to use Mucinex for the coughing but I can't see that helps much either. Another question the prenisone keeps me awake all night and I'm exhausted too. Do you take something to help you sleep? My doctor told me to take it all at once instead of in divided doses but that doesn't help at all. Quote
