Guest guest Posted July 2, 2006 Report Share Posted July 2, 2006 I didn't know until I switched dentists that pred can impede how novacaine works...they've got it in my chart that I need extra and one time when I was on pred I needed 3 doses before I got numb. Glad you are pred free going into your root canal (although, that's probably the best that can be said for that situation - augh). Hope it's not too painful. Definitely don't make med changes until AFTER your vacation and the root canal. Last time I had a cavity filled, while still on pred, I thought that I was noticing what the dentist was doing! By the time I had left the chair, the freezing was gone from my mouth!!! My husband is going to load some songs on to my daughters IPOD for me to listen to during the root canal....nothing too crazy like Ozzy Osborne or anything else heavy metal!!! I'm not too sure that I would like the laughing gas or not, but my dentist said that it is OK for asthmatics!
