Guest guest Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 My family doctor thinks that all my years on prednisone have caused me to become type II Diabetic. I now have it under control by loosing weight, watching my diet carefully, daily exercise and Actos tablets. As I have mentioned, I have had 10 eye operations since 1980. Some of theses include Cornea Transplants in both eyes and 3 cataract procedures. I developped pre mature cataracts due to all the pred I have taken in my lifetime. For those of you who know about diabetes testing, my A1C last time it was checked was 5.2. WONDERFUL! Anything over 7 is considered not good. I saw my eye doctor for my yearly checkup. He told me in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS NOT to go back on Pred because it will raise my blood sugar. High blood sugar is VERY DANGEROUS to the eyes. Sometimes in the summer, I have no choice but to go back on pred for a few days and sometimes weeks. I am praying that this summer will be different since I have been on Xolair for over 2 years. THANK THE LORD FOR XOLAIR! It keeps me Pred free for most of the year Doug Group Founder Co/moderator Co/owner Quote
