Guest guest
Debbie, Apparently, it is quite large. My regular doctor and the neurosurgeon were suprised by the " severity " of my MRI results. Also, it is blocking nearly all of the spinal cord and compressing the nerves in that area. My doctors have never mentioned anything about my frame or structure, but I am 5'5 " and 140lbs. I am a medium frame. I have an appt. with the neurosurgeon next week. I live in Oklahoma too. I am in Checotah, which is about 70 miles southeast of Tulsa. Delaina www.lyricurls.com Where the curly cats live. Re:Size of Bulging Discs Delaina, at least it's not a rupture. Bulging is better than rupture! Size of the bulges and how significant they are might be serious, might not. What is your body structure? Do you have a small bone structure or a big one (like me)? <G> I'm 47 years old, 5/5-6, 174 pounds and every doctor I've seen says I have a big/wide frame with big bones. So the size of bulge you're mentioning might be more significant on somebody with small bones (or younger) than somebody with big bones (or heavy set, or big/wide bones). Does that make sense? I believe there is some kind of grading system for slippage, but I wonder if measurements are the only way to report bulges? Don't know. I am looking to get educated on this matter. <G> The lumbar is the most commonly damaged part of the spine. My fusion was at L4-L5. My 18-year old daughter had fusion at L5-S1. My hubby had a microdiscectomy at L5-S1. The other daughter has cervical spine problems related to fall/injury. Strangely enough, NONE of our reports ever gave a measurement on bulges, ruptures, or herniations. I wish they had though!
