Hey Willy welcome to the group,sorry I can't help you on this but sure someone

will be around later with some advice.

cervical spinal stenosis w/ myelopathy

hi to everyone. i'm a new member to this group. i need some info on

this particular disesase. i was diagnosed with this disorder about 2

mos. ago and my spine doctor suggested a surgery. thats the only way

to relieve the pressure on my spinal cord.the procedure is called

posterior cervical laminoplasty. i'm scheduled to see my doctor on

july 23,2003. i need to find out from anyone on this group if the

procedure he will perform is safe and after the surgery will i feel

better and the risks. hope anyone with the same disorder can give me

some input.

I've got the same thing you have at C5/6. I would like to point you to

such websites as www.back.com, www.spineonline.com,

www.spineuniverse.com, www.drjho.com, www.microspine.com to

get information on different surgeries.

If you haven't yet had a surgery, check out dr. jho's site. He specializes

in minimally invasive surgeries and may be able to offer you an alternative.

I'm looking at the same surgery you're having right now myself.

Also, make sure that at least one of the doctors you are talking with

is a Neurosurgeon. OSS are great, but the NS will pay more attention

to your nerves in the spine. Always take the time to get a second

opinion.
