Please help me! > Have a Painless day! > Ann > vjeemt2@y... Hi Ann, I'm new to this group...so this is my first post. I had a right side laminectomy in 1991 and they removed the L4-L5 disk. I had a ruptured disk, degenerative disk disease and very bad nerve damage. I have a bulging disk at the L5-S1 level that they didn't touch. I still had pain afterward surgery. So they tried conventional therapy, water therapy and as a last resort they sent me to a Chiropractor. Well, he never did help my back but he told me my neck looked like it needed an ajustment. Well he adjusted it and about 30 minutes later when I was home I started to get severe pain in the right side of my head, I thought I was having a stroke, but thank God the pains eased after a couple of days...Needless to say I never went back to him. So years have past...about 3 years ago I started with bad neck pain...my Rheumatologist said it was probably arthritis. Come to find out after x-rays, MRI's and an EMG I have severe degenerative disk disease, 3 herniated disks, 3 bulging disks and severe nerve damage. I am seeing the Neurosurgeon again July 12th, I saw him a couple of weeks ago. My Ortho & Neurosurgeon said surgery is definitely needed. He needs to do fusions to stablize the degeneration in the neck and remove the herniated disks that are pressing on my nerves. Right now they have me going to physical therapy to keep the neck and shoulders limber till surgery...but the pain most of the time is so bad. My Ortho told me it's hard to prove after all these years that the Chiroprator caused the damage in my neck but he did tell me that Chiropractors can be dangerous and cause a lot of damage if they don't know what they're doing. He " hinted " that my neck problems could of been caused by the Chiropractor. So my opionion is stay clear of the Chiropractor. He can make you worse then you are now. Good Luck... Guest guest
Only thing a Chiro did for me was give me a 3 day migrain that nothing ER gave , made it go away . My Neuro said that he may had worsen the condition by manuplating the discs , having malformed discs and those hugging around the cauda sac, and then some idiot as he said lol , coming along and trying to fix what can't be fix , could've very well just added to my problems. Then the PT last year - put a disc back in line and since then my mid back to my neck hurts right along with the lower half , course jarring the whiz out of my back from a fall out of the bed didn't help anything either , i tend to think the jarring did more though in the neck area , but she putting that disc back and then i started having problems - it wasn't meant to go back in place i guess. I've never tried accupunture . Cloud
