I was on Celexa and it was not helping at all. With all the pain and surgeries I was going through my mental state was not good at all. There were times when I even thought I wanted to die. To make a long story short my doctor put me on Cymbalta. Barbara as you probably know no medications work the same for everyone, but the Cymbalta has been a miracle drug for me.I do not know how much it helps with my pain but I do know I am able to cope with it now and I do have a life,of which I am so thankful for waking up to every day. I am on 60mg.a day and I have never had any side affects from it. My Prayers are with you,I pray that it may help youy as it has me.

Guest guest
Thank you so much for taking the time to write me. All of the posts have been negative and scaring me. I hated the thought of an anti depressant as it was and had heard it was hard to get of but thought maybe it would help my day to day life. Then after reading the negatives, I felt afraid again. I don't feel like a real depressed person, just someone who gets down at times over circumstances. I really appreciate you writing me and hope you continue to do well on it. I am sorry to hear what you've been through. Chronic pain is awful. My pain is bearable most of the time, but it is always there and has changed my life, as I'm sure you know. God bless you, always, Barbara PS-I'm on im also, if u want to add me, I'm barbarac102 binkie424 <binkie424@...> wrote: > > My NP just prescribed Cymbalta for me, starting on a low dose of 20mg. > Has anyone here had experience with it good or bad? > I've heard both extremes. > Would love to hear from anyone here. > > Thanks > Hi Barbara, my name is and I am new to the group.I have been on Cymbalta now for about 3 yrs.I was put on it for depression after trying many of the other medications for the last 15yrs.I was in a accident 7yrs. ago and have had 2 cervical fusions,6 lumbar fusions and a reverse shoulder replacement all within the past 6yrs. Guest guest
Hi Marsha, Yes, I believe I remember you saying this. So, no side effects? May I ask what dosage? I am so afraid now to try it. People were saying they were violently ill and couldn't get off of it. I have leg pain as you know and take ativan and ultram, they do work together and do help. I hate to put more meds into me, but if my pain is even less and I'm less emotional that's good. I don't want more anxiety, or insomnia or nausea like some people are saying. Thanks for your reply Marsha, bew well. BLEECKERST10012@... wrote: Cymbalta has really helped with fibro pain. Guest guest
What i underrstand is that cymbalta was created to control diabetic pain. I believe it is the first drug approved for treatment of fibromyalgia pain. I take 60 mg on on day. It hellps tremendously with the pain. Guest guest
Thanks Marsha, I had tried lyrica once and it was way too strong. The NP has prescribed only 20mg of the cymbalta, I might give it a shot, if it makes me sick, I'll stop, but it would be nice if my legs felt more normal. It would also be nice if I had a true diagnose, rather than myself saying what's wrong with me, but that's for a different post. Take care, Barbara BLEECKERST10012@... wrote: What i underrstand is that cymbalta was created to control diabetic pain. I believe it is the first drug approved for treatment of fibromyalgia pain. Guest guest
Barbara, i have never had any side affects from cymbalta. I started with 30 mg. I am now holding at 60. Makes a big difference in the pain level. I am on other pain meds, too. Guest guest
I myself had a very bad experience with Cymbalta - I am not sure why all the Doctors love it so much and subscribe it for pain - it consists of two medications - an anti-psychotic and an anti-depressant. I think we have several people in this Group that had a much more positive outlook and it really helped them - I myself could not take it. I have heard good and bad about it - and only you will know how it affects you and your pain. Good Luck - I hope it DOES work for you.
