Teri and Kristi and others too!

Hi ladies, gosh this group has been so busy and I have not had time

to post in a long time but this whole subject of men made me

definitely need to step in a say some things too!I cannot imagine

having a man in my life who would not have been supportive of my

decision to get my implants out, esp when i was so sick. My fiance at

the time(now my hubby of 2 1/2 years) was totally supportive of me

getting them out. In fact when we first got together I had implants,

and yeah he is a guy, he liked them, when he thought they were ok.

But the first thing he said when he found out they were fake was " I

thought those things were banned and made women sick? " ha , yeah I

told him, no no these are the " safe ones " the " saline ones " but after

we got to know eachother better and marriage was coming into the

picture, of course I could not marry this wonderful caring loving man

and not tell him about my health issues. I finally had to tell him I

had fibromyalgia and mixed connective tissue disease that was at the

time still unidentified.I loved the implants because they gave me

confidence sexually, more than any other reason, and our sexuality

can be a pretty strong issue in our lives no doubt. I have always

been very sexual in nature and love that part of my life and this man

was so special that I new that we were going to have a wonderful life

together, so I wanted to keep the implants in that respect, but I

also knew that our lives together would be consumed with my illness

if I did not do something soon (that was almost 3 years ago) about my

implants and my increasing illness. My ana was going through the

roof, I was sick and getting sicker, pain meds kept me going, but

what kind of life was that? What kind of future would I have with my

illness raging on. Would I ever be able to fullfill my dreams of

getting my RN(nursing degree) of traveling? Of having a full and

active life? Were boobs worth it? In the end it was an easy answer.

Implants had to go and there was no question about that. My fiance

was supportive. Anyhow, we had broke up for a short time, but still

were friends and he was living out of state. We talked and when i

broke down and told him about the implants and how sick they were

making me he was right there, telling me to take them out. His words

were sweet and kind he said " it is you, not your breasts that

make you special, weather they were large or small or not there at

all you would still be special " and that was all i needed to hear.

Those suckers were gone within a month.Of course I did not want to

chance being deformed and with my already sagging breasts I new I had

to get the best surgeon to do the job of explant, leaving nothing to

chance, with my precarious health I really had to do things right

with regard to removal, esp with the nasty McGhan Textured implants

(worse things around in my opinion) so I went all the way to

Cleveland to see the wonderful Dr Feng and she did a beautiful job on

my explant. Within 3 months I was marrying the man of my dreams and

he and I have a wonderful marriage and are doing so many things that

I never EVER would have been able to do with my implants and illness.

My ana has returned to normal and I have a new life in a new State

and no one here knows me with anything but small real breasts. I am

able to travel, workout, and am back in school, something that never

would have been possible with those toxic bags in me. Sex? Oh yes it

is still a huge part of my life with my husband and my breasts are

just fine for us. He has never EVER made me feel anything but

beautiful and appreciated. He is supportive of my feelings about

implants and he does not find them attractive on others at all

anymore, esp because he knows that even if someone looks good with a

pair of implants, inside her body she may be suffering just like I

was. So to him fake breasts are just not attractive. Despite all I

have been through my own sister, at 49 years of age no less(she is

really fit and looks fantastic) went ahead and got implants. She

obviously did not believe what I went through would happen to her. It

drove a huge wedge between us. I was beyond upset when I found out.

Now I have just accepted that she is her own person and can do what

she chooses to with her body. I know for a fact that her boyfriend

encouraged her to get the implans telling her over and over everyday

how good his ex girlfriends breasts looked with silicone implants for

15 years and had no problems etc. I am sure he played a huge part in

her choice to get the not approved gel implants she has now. It is so

sad that she let this man influence her choice rather than to have

learned from my experience and those of all the wonderful women I

know. She only listened to the positive stuff out there and it can be

very deceptive information. Anyhow, we can live with men like this or

we can be strong and do what we need to for our health. The way I see

it is if the man in your life is not supportive of your decision to

explant and only wants a couple of implants in his life, you can

always keep them in a box and when he feels the need to play with

them you can hand him the box and he can play with them!

You girls are doing the right thing with getting them out, it will

change your life in so many ways, and you will become a much

healthier and stronger person for it.
