I know that everybody was talking about this DAYS ago (sorry, I'm a bit

behind in my mail due to final exams), but the topic of healthcare getting worse

and worse and the effects of insurance, etc. reminded me of something my doctor

said to me at the last appt I had with her (about a week ago). I was telling

her that many days my 7 - grain prescription isn't enough. I end up going to

duane reade for a new prescription too soon and have to make up excuses as to

" why I lost it - again " . I told her about how annoying it was every time,

getting sh*t from them about it. Anyway, she replied to me by saying that

everytime I get a refill on my 7 grain prescription somewhere a long the line a

red

flag is raised and she gets a call from my insurance making sure she knows what

she is doing. Can you believe that? I'm sure it is just because they don't

want to pay for more than they have to, but these third parties are making my

life much more difficult.

Why are my posts always so long? I feel bad for taking up so much time on my

jibber-jabber, lol. I think I'm still not used to having a normal amount of

energy ... all this armour, can't make myself shut up anymore ...

Okay, stopping now,

:-)

Roni-

I never thought of anything like that before either. She talks so fast

sometimes (she's very smart and quick to respond to things), so I don't

understand

the details of all that she said but I got the gist of it. I felt bad about

her getting bothered all the time and if she gives me any more armour I don't

want her to get in serious trouble so In insisted on just getting more refills

for the same 7 grains of armour. Oh by the way, I also told her about this

group and she told me to tell you all that if you need help she would do all she

could for you. How nice of her, right?

Peace,

That is a really interesting point. Truly there is no privacy anymore.

They are also checking because of the high dose....hence their

question " does she know what she is doing " , do you take adrenal

meds that you can take that high a dose and not have it bother you as

far as palps etc.? The doctor I was seeing before I could no longer

use him because of, yes, INSURANCE said they would get calls all the

time because the pharmacy wanted to make sure he really meant to give

the high doses he would prescribe. Covering their butts.

That is very sweet of her, and I'm so happy that you have someone to depend on

like that. Hang on to her, she's a keeper. I'm playing around with 2 grains of

Thyrolar (synthetic Armour), and getting Afib. I bet if I took 7 I'd start

twirling around

and take off like a helicopter. LOL

I have been taking Thyrolar most of my life. Last year an endo decided I should

take

levothyroxine instead, and and messed me all up.

I am currently taking 500 Mg's of magnesium, plus whatever is in the multi. I'm

not

particularly anxious, but do have issues with muscles, ligaments and tendons.

I

have fibromyalgia, so those things are inherent

Hi Bev, how are you doing? I only take magnesium on occasion when I'm having

a particularly stressful day or something. It helps me with muscle tension,

anxiety, etc. How much I take all depends on how stressful of a time I'm

having lol. I think it could affect everyone differently perhaps? In regards

to

when you should take your magnesium I think it has to do with the reason you

are taking the magnesium and how it affects you. If you are taking it for

stress, obviously the morning is a good time to take it to help you through the

day.

If that is affecting you badly (as in really tired) perhaps you could take

it in smaller increments throughout the day. If you are taking it for other

reasons taking it at night wouldn't cause any harm, and actually help you fall

asleep which can be nice :-) Also in terms of taking magnesium both in the

morning and at night, make sure you don't exceed 750 mg because that can be a

fatal dose. I hope this helps!

HI ,

How much and how often do you use magnesium? I'm taking 250 mg. in

the morning with the rest of my vitamins and I'm wondering if maybe

I should be taking it at night or maybe both times.

Bev,

I can only tolerate 250mg otherwise I begin to have stomach problems.

So I just take it all at once and I can't take it everyday either for

the same reason. I take it about 3 to 4 times a week.

Venizia,

May I ask what it did to your stomach? Is your stomach problems with

it why you can only take that many times a week?

The reasons I am taking it is it's suppose to help with muscle pain

and help not constipate me from my calcium. Now I'm finding out

it's suppose to help with sleeping too so I sure can use that.. I

take Trazodone 250 mg. a night for sleep and depression & all that

and I just added 600 mcgs. of Melatonin recently and I can tell a

difference with that but I could use some more help with it. So its'

for a few reasons. 500 mg a day too much?

Hi Bev,

I get diarrhea (SP?) which is one of the symptoms of getting more

than you need. That is why I take it only several times a week rather

than everyday. It seems to work for me.

Bev-

You're taking it to relieve muscle pain? Muscle pain is a big symptom of the

Trazodone your taking. Are there any others you could take instead? Perhaps

this one isn't worth it, ya know? Anyway, I would suggest taking it at night if

it bothers you during the day. I don't think 500 mg is too much but I would

check with your doctor. Also, if you are taking mroe and more because of this

pain, and have to stay on the Trazodone, maybe you could try a prescription

pain killer. Life isn't supposed to be a struggle up-hill. I know it can feel

that way sometimes though.

Best wishes,

I'm not familiar with it but if 750 mg can be a fatal dose I would be

worried with 500 mg. People vary a lot.

Bev, I can't sleep either because of FMS, and I take Ambien 10mgs. It works like

charm. I have been taking it for years now, and I haven't found the need to
