sprouted grain bread; kefir; and more

Is sprouted grain bread not a *wheat* bread? The package for Ezekiel

bread says it's flourless, but I'm suspicious of that. Is this okay

for someone with a wheat sensitivity? Also, is the cinnamon raisin

okay for the no-sugar diet?

Kefir - I tried the plain because it had no corn syrup. Bleck!!! So,

does having the flavored Kefir (like strawberry banana) with corn

syrup negate quitting sugar?

Is stevia a substitute for sugar in a no sugar diet? Or, is it just

a better sugar for those eating sugar?

Is decaf coffee okay? I've read that caffeine is an issue, but does

decaf negate that? What about decaf coffee milk (mostly milk with a

little coffee? Green tea is supposed to be good for you but it has a

lot of caffeine. So, is green tea out too? I know nothing about

Chai. Is this an okay morning drink?

Can anyone recommend a wheat free cracker that is good with cheese?

I love toasted goat cheese on melba toast, sage derby, etc and

cannot find an acceptable cracker. I've tried the nut cracker brand

and several rice crackers. They just cannot support the full taste

of strong cheese. An good solution for brie cheese is to sprinkle it

with crushed walnuts/pecans and melt it on apple slices. My

preference is for green golden delicious apples.

Um... I recently checked Ezekiel Bread and the 2nd ingredient was " sprouted

wheat " .

Also, is the cinnamon raisin

How much sugar is added, and is it made with wheat, and the raisins are

concentrated sugar!

Corn syrup is awful for us!

Sugar = bad.

Aspartame = bad.

Stevia = GOOOOD!!!

My practitioner told me that coffee is " okay if you HAVE to have it. " what

she said was bad were all the things we put IN the coffee!

I'm off dairy completely. No goats milk, no kefir. So, I guess it depends

on what your practitioner says.

Isn't cheese a mold food, and therefore not to be consumed on this diet?

That is what I understand. But, again, I'm new to this!

Hi Lesley,

The Ezekial bread is sprouted grain. You can sprout any grain, as

opposed to milling it to produce flour. Therefore, a bread can be

flourless, but not wheat-free. You just have to check to see what kind

of grain it is. In the case of the Ezekial bread, they do use wheat, so

that would not work for you.

On a no-sugar diet for candida, you should avoid any kind of

sugar--natural or otherwise. Raisins are very sweet and should be

avoided. Stevia, however, is not a sugar, but an herb. You can use

stevia. Do you have a book, yet, to tell you how to do the diet? I would

highly recommend " The Yeast Syndrome " by Trowbridge, MD. It is

excellent!

Well, what is the criteria for a *mold* food? If it is that it gets

mold on it, well everything does. Even veggies. So, what is the mold

criteria?

Like others said, sprouted grains can still be wheat sprouts. I can't

digest kamut or spelt either.

I completely avoid high fructose corn syrup. It is garbage. It's funny you

didn't like the plain Kefir, I did! Couldn't digest it though :(. Didn't

agree with me at all.

It isn't a sugar and a lot of people like it. It is a sweet herb. I got a

some of it but haven't tried it yet.

Coffee is very acidic and should be eliminated IMHO.

I can't :(. I gave up on crackers and cheese for now. Same with nuts.
