Hi,

Ive just joined this group. I have also recently started on a

candida diet and seriously researching it. Have had m.e and chronic

irritable bowel for years.

I am confused as to what is best to take and what should and

shouldnt be avoided. At the moment I avoid all sugars and fruit ,

vinegar, soya sauce alchohol, refined carbs but i do eat rye and

oats and brown rice is this bad?

I am taking 350 mg of magnesium caprylate a day acidophilus and vit

c. Can people tell me about stronger probiotics and where to buy

them and also whether anyone has used threelac and is it as much of

a miracle cure as it claims to be?

Thankyou

The correct answer about your diet question, is you have to go with

what works for you. If while on rye, oats and brown rice, you are

still experiencing your candida symptoms, then you may be sensitive to

one, two or all of them. I've heard that some people can tolerate

brown rice. grains are usually out on a candida diet, though some

members have found no trouble with natural whole grains. Let your body

tell you what is right. Sorry, I'm not an expert on suppliments. I'm

trying to heal naturally and cheaply ;) we'll see if it works.

wishing you good health and a speedy recovery,

Sue.

I was pretty tired of trying this and trying that and being

disappointed seeing no improvement, but am very glad I took a chance

on Threelac. I've tried liquid probiotics with FOS, the little

pearls, Flora Source, you name it, and never felt any different. But

have seen improvement from the first morning after taking first

double dose the night before with Threelac. Abdomen bloating NOT

gone but noticably better, have had very productive movements, way

less diarhea, stomach is more settled, and I just feel better. Don't

love the taste but not bad. So from my experience, Threelac is the

only probiotic I have ever tried that you could tell was having an

impact.

Thing is Janis that you're treating the stool and that's OK, but

you're not yet dealing with the bacteria that are adhering to the

bowel lining. These are the ones to deal with, as the bad ones

produce toxins that weaken the integrity of the bowel lining and set

you up for leaky gut.

That's why using probiotics is fine for reducing some symptoms, but

they only work as long as you're taking them; on the other hand, by

using prebiotics you might not need probiotics at all. Prebiotics

allow the good bacteria to proliferate, and proliferating bacteria

can outcompete the bad ones on the bowel lining.

Prebiotics are cheap and all we're doing with them is replacing the

historic amount that has been lost to our modern diets.

Duncan Crow
