Thanks

I don't I either hold his thumb or blew in his face lightly. I thought that

you should stop them if possible. It amazes me sometimes the B/S I listen

too.

Thanks

I agree, if you can distract the brain, and defuse the

seizure, DO IT.

Hi SHU,

I'm happy to hear that your little one is doing well. Hopefully, your sleep schedule will be back on track in just a matter of a time. I'm glad the girls are enjoying the newest family member. I remember when they weren't quite sure about having a new baby in the family : )

Aloha,

Georgina

Dave, I had a CT guided liver biopsy in Oct. My hepatologist requested an

ultrasound one, but the radiologist thought the CT guided one would be more

effective. Don't go by my experience because everything went wrong. The

machine broke down, and three hours later, when I actually had the test, I

had a bleed behind my liver. It doesn't happen very often, but my red blood

cell count is very low and I'm anemic, so I bleed easily. Anyway, what was

supposed to be an outpatient test turned out to be an overnight stay at the

hospital. They won't give you anything before the test because you have to

listen to instructions and hold your breath several times during the test.

If you experience pain afterwards, they'll give you something. Not really

painful, just uncomfortable. I did have pain afterwards, but I think it was

from the bleed, because it was mostly in my back. If you have any

questions, feel free to email me or post.

Dave,

My mom actually had a procedure where the biopsy was done through a

fiberoptic endoscope which was placed down the jugular vein into the hepatic

vein supposedly to diminish possible bleeding intra-abdominally.

Personally, I think the CT guided would be better as the CT could detect

smaller nodules or abnormalities better than an ultrasound, and a fine

needle aspirate could be more definative of the disease. I know both these

procedures could be a problem when clotting parameters are abnormal;

however, I do ultrasound guided aspirates often on cats, and with 22 to 20

guage needles we have yet to have a problem.

(knock on wood) Hope this helps.

Kat, I am one also who has had the transjugular procedure done by biopsy. This worked much better for me than the original biopsy done by the CT-guided method. This was so much easier on me. The CT-guided was not so good. I had a bleed and was in horrible pain for several days and still have some lasting effects from it. I would highly recommend the transjugular. Mine is done at Duke, ordered by hepatologist Dr. Heneghan who is wonderful. My next one will be due probably late spring or early summer 2003. I am in the process of weaning my Prednisone. Could not take the Imuran due to developing pancreatitis from it. I am on 4 mg. of Prednisone for now and am weaning down l mg. every 2 months until we get as low as I can go without the enzymes going up. He would like to get me as low as possible but it may be difficult not being able to take the Imuran. He is also fearful that I might not be able to take any of the other immunosuppresants. in North Carolina - AIH 09/00

Hi Carolyn!!!

I can sooooo relate!! I had a bowel resection about two years ago. I really

need to watch what I eat, things just so upset my system. Anyway, I try to

be creative, but somedays I'm just too lazy!!I only eat chick and fish and I

told my husband many days I feel like I either have gills or wings. I do

cook a lot of pasta, and I've learned to be very creative with ground turkey.

Just this week I had turkey meat balls! I use the ground turkey just like

ground beef, but I cook everything very bland!!! Turkey tacos, turkey chili.

My husband is a big cow person but I'm slowly changing him. The other day

he asked if it was turkey or beef he was eatting and I told him if he can't

tell me which it was he'd never know! Hope this helps.

Love, K

Sir:

The only thing you have proven is that you are unable to carry on a

reasonable debate without lowering yourself to name calling when

people do not embrace your quantified wisdom. To my knowledge, no one

has disagreed with your assumption that marijuana is harmful to one's

liver. If we were debating the degree of harm to one's liver then

please lets participate in a resonable discourse on the subject. One

would suspect that with the mental myopia you suffer from you might

not enjoy the debate.

As for my choice for medical practioner, my Docs are are on the

cutting edge of hepatitis c research and have published many opinions

on the subject.

If you have something to offer persons seeking assistance from this

disease, please offer. If you have nothing to offer but statements

from the United Nations circa 1985, then it would be prudent to

refrain from commenting as I suspect people have heard your view too

many times in one day. In other words move on.

don't. I don't care what some loopy pothead believes.

Special , that's what the Church Lady would say to " Aren't we

Special " .

Now that you have wasted this day away, what will tomorrow bring?

Are you angry about something?

Would you care to discuss what is troubling you? Do you actually have

Hepc?

Do you sincerely believe you are assisting people with HepC?

I hope you feel better about your self tomorrow, as for me I have work

to do, actually assisting people with HepC. There are many places and

people who need help with this disease, maybe you could spare soemtime

to assist them instead of this engageing people in a no win debate

about nothing. Loopy pothead. Thanks I'll treasure the

expression till the end of my days. Maybe you don't care what I have

to say but thousands of people do care. Do you hang your Eva Braun

school of Debate and general Nice Persons diploma above your desk?

Thanks

I will not respond posts from you in the future and hopefully others

will follow this lead.

Hey ! It is SOOOOO good to hear from you! How tragic that you were told people were tired of hearing of your ailments. They DONT understand! Only here, do people understand!

My year is also coming to a close...well, not until June, but I am going to take March and April off so that I can recoup. So far, I have not developed the diabetis and am trying to keep the sugar labs lower. So far, they are only ranging in the 130-140...just on the border.

As for the pain in the lower back. I was having that too, but the doctor discovered it was bad bones, etc. The bones were beginning to crumble...my GP thought it was from the prednisone. So, now I can say, for 2 days, now, I have been OFF this medication. With luck, it may not have to be started again. Time will tell.

Good to hear from you....keep in contact, OK?

Hi It has been sometime since I have written. This has been an exceptional busy and hectic school year for me. I teach in Montna and head coach of the speech and debate team and direct the plays. It has also been a little over a year know that I was DX'd with AIH and discovered this wonderful group. I started on 40mg of prednisone and quickly went down and stayed at 5 mg. However a few months ago I was dx'd with diabetes - Type II. Treatment has been diet and exercise and for the most part my numbers have been controllable. My liver counts were slightly elevated and so I am back up to 7.5mgHowever, lately I have been getting these pains in my lower back. When I experience these pains my blood sugar numbers tend to go up. I have also had a problem with getting rid of staff. This group has been so great for me because you guys are the only ones that dont make me feel bad about talking about my illnessesseseses. One of my dearest friends, a pastor, also a diabetic, shocked me when she told me that people were tired of me whining about all my ailments all the time. I know people dont understand.I would love to hear from those of us who are experiencing anything similar. AIH with diabetes. Thank you for your understanding.dx AIH 1/02

, the doctor and I decided to try to wean me off of it. I have been on 2.5 mg for several months, so was able to just drop to 2 for several weeks and then to 1 for a couple of weeks.

Now, the ONLY problem, is that since I started weaning from the prednisone, my lft's have been elevated. I had a biopsy in January. My doctor was very happy that the results were minimal inflammation. We all were happy. But then, she called on Feb 5th to tell me that the labs were doubled since Jan 20th! We couldn't believe it. PLUS, the bilirubin was 1.4. She is going to keep an eye on the labs for several months and if they don't return to normal, then she will be looking to see if there is duct problems. If things don't settle too, she will have another liver biopsy done to see what is happening. But for now, I am not too worried. I had another set of labs done on Feb 8th, and she hasnt called back telling me they are bad....and THAT is GOOD news! Like my husband says, "No news is GOOD news!"

Hope your sugar levels continue to stay down!
