Guest guest
Suz Try enzymes, or lacto-fermented beverages. Your digestion has conditioned itself to rid your body of food it can not absorb. If you don't have any of that, lots of fresh lemon or lime juice. Eat smaller meals to start training your stomach and digestion to work again. Just a thought [ ] Re: signs of low stomach acid? hi all! hey robin you're not alone - i belch frequently - protein, starch, vegetables, it doesn't seem to matter, i belch with all of it! what is the doseage per HCl tablet that you are taking? i have one that is country life brand, 2 tablets = betaine hydrochloride 600 mg, with pepsin. it helps me with digestion, and seems to help reduce the occurrence of i.b.s.(yay!), although i'm still dealing with that problem. warning: graphic detail ahead! -- sometimes food comes through me so fast it doesn't even have time to discolor. like, if i eat chopped watercress in my beef & vegetable soup in the morning, and have a difficult time digesting, then the bright green watercress will have passed through me within an hour of eating it, along with lots of liquid. i can't even imagine how it gets through all the internal pipes so quickly! i have only taken 1 or 2 HCl tabs with each meal. haven't felt any burning. i will increase my dose slowly and see if it helps even more. thanks ~ suz > Some people take 10 HCL with a meal. I take 5. Maybe someday...... In the mean time > HCL is really helping me digest my foods and I am very grateful it's > available.
Guest guest
Hi , Suz and everybody! I take Gastric Aid, 6 capsules per meal. They are 675 mg. of hydrochloric acid. So far so good. And speaking of stools :-) my favorite subject it would seem, sine I started the HCl with meals my stools are now firm and dense but soft and not floating. Still a bit of mucus but I think it's from inflammation and is going away. I have high hopes that this will work for me. I'm also taking my vitamin C, B vitamins and magnesium and/or calcium with the acid because acid is supposed to help those particular vitamins & minerals absorb (as I think I mentioned here before.) Things are looking up! Also, an interesting note for the women here -- it's strange that my digestive symptoms seem to be worse around hormonal times. I'm 52 and thought I was in menopause (for the past year,) but lo and behold an honest to goodness menstrual period is happening (!) I'm ready for the sky to open up next and swallow me whole. What's goin' on! I am assuming (hope hope!) that it is a sign of returning health? ~Robin Ps. thanks for the info about enzymes: I was taking them right before meals but now I'm taking them right after the meal... Guest guest
Have you noticed the closer you make your food to the environment of the stomach going in, the better it is going out?.. I drink Kombucha tea. I have it before, or after my meals, and especially with items that have little enzymes or foods that have not been properly prepared. I have noticed that the sour taste is very similar to stomach acid that I have previously burped up in the past. Now I know that does not sound appetizing but to me it taste like it but not with the acute burning sensation of acid reflux. The old commerical years ago advertizing Dannon yogurt where a village of people lived to over hundred years old,> They said it was impart due to eating yogurt.(Dannon wanted to infer it was their yogurt, but that's another story) . Anyway yogurt is fermented or cultured milk rich in enzymes ,which makes it easily digestible for old people.(sick stomachs also). After age 27 our enzyme production diminishs 10% each preceding decade. That is why your skin scars more and you may not heal as fast as you used to.
