Guest guest
Hi Jerry, Thanks for the info. I don't know anyone with a liver shunt. I am hoping it will help. Protocol from here is an ultra sound in a few weeks. Some endoscopy along the way (just to have a look see) with months between them. Consider balooning the opening again in about TWO YEARS (radiologist). So the prognosis sounds good, less frequent visits, with hope of staying on this liver another 5-10 years if possible. My Gastro says that I might still have esophogeal bleeds. Hope fully less frequent and less severe. He will treat them as needed. The new guidelines for liver transplant listing changed last year, so unless my liver goes to Childs C or they can't control the bleeds then I won't even need to meet with the transplant team yet. I went back to work today. My employer trades off for having someone available to make 6am timely openings and I get to work only 2 hours. She gets her needs met and I get mine. I really haven't been cleared medically, but two hours to me is like a trip to the grocery store. The concerns now are kiddney failure with the surgery, infection and encephalophathy. My Gastro refuses to modify my diet. Says I need the protein (my liver needs it). He says if and when I get to the brain cloud stage he will put me on a drug to help. My radiologist disagrees and thinks I should watching my protein intake now. Anyone with Encephalophy or at risk of this had to deal with this dietary issue? Thanks again for asking about me Jerry..... Jen On Wed, 3 Jan 2001 00:50:58 -0500 (EST), egroups wrote: > Jen.... I`m glad you were able to get a TIPS it should help you > immensely.
