Guest guest Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 It had been a study at Hopkins, Baltimore MD during 1998 the relationship to menses and inscreased sacro iliac joint pain and leg pain ie hormone levels increasing pain..I know that was one aspect of the study that the participants were in. I don't know if it was ever completed and published. I just happened to be having surgery there that year when it was going on and at that point i had no SI Joint pain so I could not participate. my si pain started 7 months post-op revision! One of the give aways if there is Sacro Iliac Joint involvement is the pain factor of deep pain in buttocks and/or legs and if it is connected to your menstruation. My SI Joints and legs go over the edge the day before and first two days of my period. I am way past a level ten. The pain goes deep through me and grips through my groin and around my thighs and is even more painful to sit on the toilet... too much info?? I know its a horrible feeling as nothing gets that deep to relieve the pain the pain. I think for me the Sacro iliac Joint pain when it hits has been the worst and the hardest to medicate to any tolerable level and the pain that makes one have alternative lack of life thoughts. Its been hard to deal with. I have been having steroid imjections then radio frequency nerve burning which had helped but recently the nerve endings have regeberated and its time to try it all again. The procedur of the readiofrequency lasted almost a year so that was the first time since 1999 I didn't have the monthly menses rollercoaster hell ride of SI pain. time to get " tuned " up again! :-) lol.. sometimes the pain even goes shooting through my legs having bowel movements. when those nerves are irritated they are just that...and then some. take care kathleen in NJ wishing you many peaceful moments TwistedSister in NJ 1982 Scoliosis Harrington fusion, 1998 Revision A/P Surgery for Flatback Syndrome, 1998 Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, 1999 Degenrative SI Joints, 2000 Weight Loss Surgery, 2000 Spinal Hardware Removed, 2001 Cervical bulging discs, 2002 Arachnoiditis, 2002 GERD, 2002 Adhesions, 1993 Mitral Valve Prolapse, 1996 Fibromyalgia, 2001 Kidney Stones, 2003 Interstitial Cystitis, May 2003 Anterior spine hardware removal ** LIFE IS UNCERTAIN.............EAT DESSERT FIRST ** Harrington Rod scoliosis people and other post-op multiple spine surgery people may interested in the following website dedicated to Flatback Syndrome and revision/salvage spine surgery...
