Appointment at UCSF

I got a phone already today from UCSF to call back and make an

appointment!! I was surprised!! I only saw the dr. last week, and

it's one day shy of one week. I guess referrals speed things up quite

a bit!!! I'll probably have to wait until June with my husband's days

off. He has rotating days off, and he can't just take a day whenever

he feels like it. He's already used his personal day for the year.

Same with his vacations. Once they're picked for the year (which he

has to pick the Sept. or Oct. of the year before) that's it, you

can't change them. They pick on seniority. I wanted to make the appt.

the first of his two days off, and then if we were tired, we could

spend the night somewhere and drive home the next day. I know staying

in SF is out--too expensive. But where else?? I guess it would depend

on what highways we take to get there. We would be coming from the

south. I'll call them tomorrow to see how soon this app't could be

made with their openings.

Some of you who have been up there and know the routes to get there,

traffic, etc., and the hospital itself and parking situations, I

would appreciate some pointers/ideas. I can get the directions off

the hosp. website for directions, but which highways/freeways are

less congested--if there is such a thing? And what times of day? I

guess morning rush hour would be bad. I haven't been to SF in over 25

years, and when I did go, it was from the east bay over the Bay

Bridge from Oakland. We went through 580 I think it was through

Altamont pass from Interstate 5.
