Guest guest
I am new to this yeast connection idea but I will tell you all a little bit about myself. I have been ill with dizziness, headaches (almost constant) blurred vision, depression, weight gain, food cravings, chemical and food sensitive, infertility, stomach distress, fatigue, skin problems and a few other things for 6 years now. I got sick suddenly and I have had every test known to man but nothing is wrong with me. I am taking three meds daily for these symptoms that are supposedly caused by migraines and chronic tension headaches. I have taken antibiotics since I was three months old for ear and upper resp infections (so much so that I have " antibiotic teeth " ). I ran across Dr. Crook's book and bought it. I scored a 350 on his test. I took the spit test and had all the possible results. I think I may have found out what is going on with me. But I have questions and I am hoping someone can help me. 1) Do you have to have fungus nail infections or vaginal yeast infections to have this problem? I do not have either of those and I am unsure about some of the other symptoms. 2) How do I start treating myself? I read about products like Threelac and they sound great but I don't know. Another list talked about parasites and Colonix. So confusing!!!!!???????? 3) Can a person get over this and go back to normal? Is this forever? 4) What about die off? That sounds awful. 5) What sort of doc can help me? My docs " pooh Pooh " me and I feel like I need guidance to do this right. 6) Should my husband be treated too? Ok enough all ready. Thanks in advance for your help. Amber
Guest guest
Hi Amber Welcome to the group. You do not have to have nail fungus or vaginal problems to suffer from Candida overgrowth. I didn't and was plagued with most of what you listed. My doctor doesn't get it either but that doesn't mean you don't have it. Sometimes you need to help yourself regardless of what the doctors say. I like this approach the best because you are basically changing your eating habits at first and you don't need to take three-lac etc. to make positive changes in your health. I don't always believe alternatives doctors have the answer either but everyone on this group will attest to the fact that diet is a HUGE part of your health. If you look to the left side of the group information (on the web page for the candida support groups you will find a list of articles under files.....you won't get it if you just get the email sent to you) Diet is the best and safest way to start out. All of the other stuff can be added in later but I myself feel a lot better just by changing my diet. Die off is awful but there are some things you can do to make it not as horrible. I suggest you start by looking at all of the great articles that Bee and several other people have listed in the files section. People are very helpful on this list and you will learn a lot. To make it less confusing in the begginning I suggest you read the collection of articles listed. Guest guest
Hi Amber, You asked, " 3) Can a person get over this and go back to normal? Is this forever? " Yes!, a person can definitely get over this and be even BETTER than normal. But it takes some work. As Jeanne just said, read the files first so you will learn about the diet. All the answers to your questions are there. We're all here for support and questions. (We're all still learning and comparing notes!) The " die-off " you asked about is covered in those articles. Die-off happens when you stop eating sugars and starches. It's a kind of withdrawal and you'll feel pretty bad or out-of-it for a few weeks. You'll get serious cravings for sweets and grains and feel dizzy and tired and depressed and, well, just miserable, but it's the only way out of the problem and the hardest part is the first few weeks. Drugs alone won't do it. Jeanne said where the files are on the web page (the left side) but I thought I'd add a link to the main article in case you can't find it right off. It's called How to Successfully Overcome Candida. http://f5.grp.fs.com/v1/sBp7QVYvJNYV9mER6F093dIiOL1n4XXQPSXuE2zDaaX3xxv dONkU3QWYMTrGMG8uqAsAMdIk_umbK3GpEZB_PA/A%29%20How%20to%20Successfully%20Ove rcome%20Candida.htm Good luck and keep in touch! ~Robin
Guest guest
Hmmm... that link in my other mail didn't work. Try this one or maybe it just can't be done.... Anyway, it's in the files section on the left and is called How to Overcome Candida by Bee Wilder. http://f5.grp.fs.com/v1/wCh7Qb-_WY9sVymkgLqa_NAlY8gCVnrdJRRPvnWd7TMEeTN J9QzamBmA0uQIYwBdx229_DFFCeQ1XEaisFyGLQ/A%29%20How%20to%20Successfully%20Ove rcome%20Candida.htm
Guest guest
Dear Amber, I'd like to personally welcome you to the group. I'm glad you found us. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Since I had candida the first time in the mid 1980s I've been helping many people like yourself who have experienced the same symptoms, and yet every medical test know to man did not detect any reasons, including myself. Since other people have answered some of you questions very well and I agree with them I will only add: 1. Threelac is highly marketed, like many other products for candida, and they claim you can cure candida without dieting - however, that is not true. The foods you eat are the most important aspect of curing candida, and it is the first step towards health. The main idea with the candida program is to get your immune system operating normally. 2. Parasites can be present in some candida sufferers. If you are concerned get a thorough stool test and then you can take herbal treatments for them, i.e. black walnut, garlic, clove oil, etc. 3. Going back to normal needs to be qualified. Normal to me is being healthy, but that doesn't mean one can return the same bad eating habits they had before treatment. I would hope everyone sees how important it is to maintain certain aspects of the diet so they maintain life-long health without requiring medical intervention or drugs. If you give your body what it needs it will do a great job of healing and maintaining health. 4. Like others said start treating yourself by starting on the diet, one step at a time. Don't try to do too many things at once. First eliminate sugar. Once that is done eliminate grains and high carbs, and so on. It idea is to replace old habits with new good eating habits. With the symptoms you describe it would be wise to be on the diet about 3 months before starting on antifungals. 5. About a doctor. There are some medical doctors that are wholistic - I had one in Toronto, Ontario in the mid 1980s. You might also find chirpractors, herbalists or naturopaths who treat candida. I wish you the very best Amber! Bee
