Hi and ,

It’s so nice that you two responded

to my post – thanks! In fact it’s been really fun reading all the

responses! I like getting to know some other aspects of who we all are –

because we’re more than our surgeries (even though our medical problems

have taken up so much of our lives).

, I know what you mean when you say your cat got you through your

spine surgeries. I don’t think I could live without a cat. When I first

met my husband my cat had passed away and he didn’t want me to get

another one because he has a cockatoo and he was afraid the cat would eat the

bird. But after a couple of months I actually got depressed – I just felt

sad all the time. Since then, thank goodness, I’ve had cats. Right now I

have a Ragdoll. I never had a purebred before – usually I got my cats

from shelters. This was a real splurge but he’s a wonderful guy – a

year now- and over 20 pounds!!!

That’s great that you can garden.

Unfortunately I can’t do the leaning over on my knees position so

gardening is out for me. It’s too bad because our yard could sure use

some color. What perennials have you put in???

, that’s so cool that you

love to write – and that you’re a published author! Congrats! What

sort of story are you writing about your mom – did she live an

interesting life? When I hear my mom or mother-in-law talk about their pasts I’m

always fascinated to hear how their lives were shaped – I hear things I

never would have guessed – like my mother-in-law who is pretty poor these

days grew up in an enormously rich family – they had a 10

bedroom/bathroom house on the Hamptons of New York and had cooks and maids and

butlers! Yipes!

Thanks again,

Andy

Just for Fun-Andy

Andy,

I love to write. I have had about a dozen poems

published and am in the process of writing a book

about my " mother " and her life. I love

to garden too. Does that count?

Dear Andy,

I wish I could quilt, sewing wasn't ever a fave of

mine, never seemed to have the knack for it. Got my daughter a sewing machine

for Christmas, planning to give it a second try. Writing interests me, I'm an

avid card writer, do a family newsletter, and arrange all family reunions etc.

I have an eight year old cat named Wednesday, gave her the name since it was

wednesday when we got her and didn't want to go through the endless naming

process with the kids. She really got me through all the spinal surgeries, she

knew I needed her, aloof as she was, and is now My cat. I have traveled only by

car since my kids are still at home, but look forward to doing more of that

when the last one leaves the nest in four years. Paris is first on my list! I

love to eat out, good way of getting exposed to new cultures, India is high on

my list of places I'd like to see because of friends I've made through eating

out.

My biggest passion is Scrapbooking and gardening.

Can't wait till May till I can start planting again, This house we are in Had

nothing when we moved in. I've put in trees, perrinials, bulbs and 40 rose

bushes. This year is climbing vines, and some schrubs. Fun to have a blank

slate, but expensive. Scrapbooking is so much fun, but I end up doing more of

it for extended family than my own. I have done wedding books, and a book for

my Grandmother of her entire family to help her put names with faces while she

was going the Alzheimers. I did a large book last year for my parents 50th

anniversary. I enjoy it so much, just don't have the time to do it as often as

I'd like.

Here's another kitty-pic:

That was taken the first day I was back home from my revision surgery, back in October 2002. Fuzz spent so much time with me, and when she'd finished washing herself, she'd generally wash my nose or forehead for me!

Dear Pa,

I had my last revision in December, and since we can't put anything in the

ground till after Mother's day, that's when I started, still in the brace

for about two weeks. While it's not as easy as before revision it's doable.

Hi ,

Wow – what a great idea – to bargain

for all those plants!!! And to give new life to other people’s plant overflow!

You sound very industrious! I wish I could hire you to come work on my yard! It

must feel great to look out your window and see how beautiful you made it. And

it must feel good to know that your neighbors are emulating your efforts and

the whole block is looking better! You go, girl!

All we have in our backyard is some purple

coneflowers, spreading petunias and a couple of other small flowering shrubs

(plus the usual rhododendrons). I wish my husband was into it since I can’t

add anything due to my back. I’d love to put in bulbs, butterfly weed (to

attract butterflies!) and those cone-shaped red flowers that hummingbirds seem

to like. Oh well….

Keep up the good work!

Oh my goodness – how cute!!! Don’t

you totally love when your cats sit on your face??? I do! I love the way they

smell. OK – so I’m a nut.

Thanks for the photo! I’ll try to

send one of my cat, Phinney.
