Guest guest
Hi Tina, thanks for the info. I don't really have many of those symptoms. My face is not rounded and I don't have excess hair anywhere. I think I'm going to find a new endo. I thought that high levels of DHEA were good and that they decreased with age. I'm so confused. Gracia mentioned things being off balanced. _________________________________________________________________ Get fast, reliable access with MSN 9 Dial-up. Guest guest
Anyway I suspect that Cushings should be treated with DHEA and cortef. Docs don't treat adrenal illness right. Don't worry, first try to get the right amount of the right thyroid med. You don't take any T3 do you? It can make a big difference. Gracia > Hi Tina, > thanks for the info. Guest guest
I must of missed this reply somewhere---anyway high anything is not good--we are looking for a balanced ratio!! this is the main problem here with this illness ect. is finding the correct balance!!! Even if you don't have symptoms of cushings---it's something to look into--a high dhea without taking in any supplements that might cause it is something to find out why---in your case it could be compenstating for the lower hormones--but they are low because of the time you took these test results--you need to retake your dhea test before your period to see if they come down and the testosterone, progesterone, estrogens go up before the Period starts--if dhea is high still here at this time of the cycle---you have to look at other reasons why. One could be low cortisol, high dhea---adrenal problems---need cortisol test to see. and the other is cushings---just to be on the safe side it's best to rule this out. jmo tina Third thing could still be you getting back to normal after lactation- -I would wait at least 3 months to get retested--and do it this time a week before your period--this way you will know if your hormones are working correctly!!! but you got your period after stopping lactation this is a good sign-- your body is coming back to normal--your past test results could be just off like I think because of it's just too soon to really know. don't panic--just have some of this in your mind the next time you test!!! and let us know what symptoms you are having right now so we can have more info---anything else besides tired??? have you added in any iron to your diet??? just in case??? tina > > > Hi Tina, > > thanks for the info. Guest guest
yes now I remember you said this before---sorry I forgot about this -- -still surprises me---but we found info before on this. Still you have to get over the higher prolactin levels from lactating- -and that has to do with the pituitary gland---Dec. to now Feb.--- need more time I still think so. I remember my doctor telling me it takes 6 months to recover once I finished B/F. but you know that was 20 years ago---wow huh!!! > Hi Tina, > I will write more later about my symp., but wanted to tell you that I had a > period throughout 14 mos of breastfeeding. thank you, > > > > > ----Original Message Follows---- > From: " tina83862 " <tina83862@y...> > Reply-hypothyroidism > hypothyroidism > Subject: Re: info on cushings---just FYI > Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2004 20:26:10 -0000 > > I must of missed this reply somewhere---anyway high anything is > not good--we are looking for a balanced ratio!! this is the main > problem here with this illness ect. is finding the correct balance!!! > > Even if you don't have symptoms of cushings---it's something to look > into--a high dhea without taking in any supplements that might cause > it is something to find out why---in your case it could be > compenstating for the lower hormones--but they are low because of the > time you took these test results--you need to retake your dhea test > before your period to see if they come down and the testosterone, > progesterone, estrogens go up before the Period starts--if dhea is > high still here at this time of the cycle---you have to look at other > reasons why. > > One could be low cortisol, high dhea---adrenal problems---need > cortisol test to see. > > and the other is cushings---just to be on the safe side it's best to > rule this out. jmo tina > > Third thing could still be you getting back to normal after lactation- > -I would wait at least 3 months to get retested--and do it this time > a week before your period--this way you will know if your hormones > are working correctly!!! > > > but you got your period after stopping lactation this is a good sign-- > your body is coming back to normal--your past test results could be > just off like I think because of it's just too soon to really know. > > don't panic--just have some of this in your mind the next time you > test!!! and let us know what symptoms you are having right now so we > can have more info---anything else besides tired??? have you added in > any iron to your diet??? just in case??? tina > > > > > > > > > Hi Tina, > > > thanks for the info.
