Guest guest
Are you vegetarian and what do you do about your iron levels? Kerry Hi I am new to the group! Hi everyone, I have lyme disease and candida and of course I am hypothyroid. Because of the candida(which can cause a thyroiditis that doesn't raise your TSH) my TSH is normal. I am just getting over Giant Cell thyroititis that I got after a viral cold in October. My neck still hurts from time to time and cause some hyper symptoms to appear. For some reason about a month after getting the Giant cell I became anemic. So I am on FE to take care of that, ace inhibitor to take care of the BP/ HR that the FE doesn't take care of. In other words I am a mess. I was sent to an Endo, what a disaster that was. Got the lecture on TSH and the placebo effect of synthyroid and was given 3 things to search on the internet. I told him that my neck really hurt when he was pressing on it during the exam, but he said I don't know what that meant. I don't need alot of synythroid to feel pretty good most of the time, but this is the second time I have had Giant Cell and anemia right after it. The last time it damn near killed me. Had the lowest Iron ever recorded in the lab. And to think I swam a 1000 yds 3 days before I passed out. Anyway my real concern now is the anemia and no one has been able to answer the question of is this related to my thyroid condition. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated. Guest guest
Hi Kerry, No I am not a vegetarian, I like my meat. I have been scoped to see if I am bleeding anywhere and I am not. But it seems like the thyroid goes crazy and then I get anemia. Sooooooo! no one has been able to give me a clue why it is happening. Guest guest
Hi Rueruel, I have read that if you had pernicious anemia, doc's would be checking your levels of vitamin B12. Hypo's tend to be low on B12 that much I do know through my private doc. The above condition would give you a smooth sore tongue I believe. Guest guest
Thanks for the thought, but I diffently have low Fe. The Labs prove that. Both my FE(which is low) and TIBC (which is high) indicate iron deficiency anemia. I take B12 everyday.
