Guest guest Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 I never really regained full hearing after my surgeries. I don't have terrible hearing, I just can't hear whispers all to well. I'm interested to see how the third surgery is going to play out in a month or so. Glad everything went well for you. I hate surgery in general, but when its over its great. Guest guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 ---Vonnie, I started parttime last week , fulltime this week. It was very exhausting, I won't kid you, everyday got better and better. I have been using my back brace/velcro thing they made for me in the hospital. I did not use it alot unitl I started back to work. I felt that my back felt tired.....the brace helps. That is good that you have off until Sept. , that will give you plenty of time to get back on your feet. I could have chosen a similiar course but I was fearful I might not get my same class back if I waited until Sept. I did not want to take that chance, so I went back as soon as the FMLA was ending..,PA In , vonnie callahan <vonniec20032000@...> wrote: > > Pa, Back to work WOW you are doing great..So how are you doping with that? Guest guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 --- Vonnie, You mean some guy did not come and put something on the flat of your back while you were in NEBH? THey came into my room while in ICU and fitted me with some materail that was hot/warm, later came back with this whitevelcro waist belt that I was told to wear if I was up walking around....maybe you'll get yours next goaround!!! I am sure it is nothing to be concerned about, just ask Rand if you think of it before you go in for the second stage...I was bad, not wearing while home recovering..but felt the need once I was up and at work on my feet, more than I was used to doing on a daily basis. Guest guest Posted July 15, 2006 Report Posted July 15, 2006 Hi Girls, Thank you for all the warm welcome homes! I feel like a different person and I know that my family and friends who came to Amarillo to walk this journey with me feel the same way. I had an incredible experience while in the hospital. A girlfriend of mine here in The Woodlands has a girlfriend in Amarillo who she contacted and asked if she would visit me in the hospital. Not only did she visit me but she alerted her church about me and the Pastor came and sat in the waiting room with my husband and daughter while I was in surgery. Many of the members came and visited and prayed over me during my stay and a group of women put together a " Prayer Quilt " in a matter of days. It's beautiful with little knots of strings on it which represent a prayer someone said over me while I was in the hospital. I'll try to take a picture of it and post it for ya'll to enjoy. I happen to be a quilter so this was an extra special gift for me as I know the labor of love that goes into a quilt. , the Charge Nurse that was on duty many of the days I was on the 7th floor came and ministered to me in one of my darkest hours. I was not taking the oral pain meds because my stomach was so upset, so I was in pain and naseaseated (sp?) and I felt I simply had no " fight " left in me. He came in and in his soothing manor just ministered to me, petting my forehead and talking to me in that calming voice of his. Eventually he came up with the right combiniation of drugs to address each of my issues and was able to make me comfortable again. I will always be greatful to him and many of the team on that floor that cared for me while I hung out on their floor which was quite awhile (10 days). I feel like I'm moving along beautifully. I'm able to get up and around the house with little effort, although I haven't tried the stairs yet. As far as official walks go, I walk to the mailbox and back and hope to make it a little further each day to ultimately around the block many times. I confess I'm getting tired of laying on my back in bed everyday so today I hung out in the recliner for a couple of hours in the family room and watched last nights episode of " Monk " . (Praise God for TIVO). When I came home I had lost about 14 pounds and today I'm at a loss of 17 pounds. (Went poop after about 4 days of not going). Feel like a new woman! One thing I would like to know is when will I be able to sit up comfortably for long periods of time with no pain in my lower spine? I know that I'm not supposed to sit up right now for any length of time for 6 weeks, but I was wondering if at the 6 week mark the pain goes away? Blessings sweet ladies (and gentlemen), Alpine Quote
Guest guest Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Alpine, I am so glad you are feeling better and at home. You were in my thoughts and prayers during your surgery and afterwards, and now while you are recovering. I am going to Amarillo this Thursday and will probably set a surgery date at that time. The lung problems and the respiratory arrest must have been horrible for you. You really went through it! It is good to hear that you are satisfied with Dr. LaGrone. My husband will fly with me for the surgery only, but I am solo on Thursday. Coming from a two-stoplight town, originally, it is always "interesting" to see if I can get from an airport to a Dr.'s office and to a hotel and back to the airport on my own! I am at the point of dread right now and telling myself that maybe my pain isn't "bad" enough yet to go through with the revision, but it seems most are glad they did, once it is over. I pray that you will heal fast and without incident! God bless you! Martha Annethegouldianlady2004 <alpine@...> wrote: Hi Girls,Thank you for all the warm welcome homes! Guest guest Posted July 30, 2008 Report Posted July 30, 2008 Oh yes you do have a choice in your healthcare, and it sounds like you implemented it. Kudos to you for your courage and proactive choices regarding your values and health. Vj From: vanderlady00 <pvanderveer@...>Subject: Doing Welliodine Date: Thursday, July 31, 2008, 12:08 AM Haven;t posted in a while. Just wanted to let everyone know it has been one year on Iodoral 4-6 tabs a day and also having switched to Armour, and I'm doing great. Have tons of energy, well balanced. My 11 and 13 y.o. girls take an Iodoral tablet from time to time which helps them with being calm, headaches, tiredness, moodiness, etc. On a sad note, my girls' pediatrician asked us to leave the practice when I told her we chose not to get the tetanus booster vaccine. It was appalling. Sad to see that we don't have any choice in our own healthcare decisions anymore. Anyone know of a pediatrician in Brevard County, Florida ok with not vaccinating?Pam, Melbourne, FL Quote
