Guest guest Posted September 10, 2004 Report Share Posted September 10, 2004 IM SO TIRED OF GOIN 2 THE DOCTOR ALL THE TIME,AND GETTN BLOOD TEST ALMOST EVERY FRICKN MONTH.IM ON A HIGHER DOSE OF SYNTHROID, DONT KNOW WAT MEDICATION I CAN OR CANNOT TAKE WHILE TAKEN MY THYROID PILLS.DR DOEST REALLY GIVE ME ALOT OF INFO ABOUT THYROID DISEASE,HAD 2 GO ON THE FUCKN COMPUTER 2 FIND OUT .MY FAMILY DOESNT BELIEVE ME,THINK IM NOT REALLY SICK N DONT HAV THYROID DISEASE.I THINK ITS CAUSE THEY DONT KNOW WAT IT IS . People who don't know label you as a hypochondriac and always think your full of crap. It affects everyone differently and can trigger a whole lot of symtems. The endocrine system is a complicated one and everything is related to one-another. The thing is though, to truly feel better you need to find a combination of meds that work for you - the trick is finding a doc that will listen and help you get there. Guest guest Posted September 23, 2004 Report Share Posted September 23, 2004 This is certainly a frustrating illness sometimes when I am lethargic tired, I feel that my family thinks I am faking it or that i am lazy you ever feel that way? and also; my dr keeps changing my dosage and from synthroid to levoxyl and back to synthroid!!!!! when were you diagnosed? how old are you? thyroidectomy yet???? Guest guest Posted September 24, 2004 Report Share Posted September 24, 2004 I agree that it is very frustrating. My numbers were okay for almost 9 months, then this past July they shot up again. I suffered with lethargy, falling asleep by 7 pm every nite, brain fog (which I still have) and stammering, among other things. Since upping my meds, which coincided with my pharmacy changing my presrip over to generic, I have also had bouts of diarhhea. The brain fog is still with me and, now, instead of being sleepy every nite, I just plain crash every few days. I pretty much slept this past Monday away, thank goodness it was a vacation day from work. My family doesn't fully understand the ramifications from my having Hashimoto's. It's tough to lose weight when you don't have the energy to walk or exercise. It's kind of like a doberman chasing it's tail, a useless activity. I am the one who is impatient with the lethargy. There are things I want to do, but just don't have the get up and go to get them done. I am going back to the doctor next Friday (the 1st) for another blood test and to discuss my going to an endo doc. I have been lucky in that my doc is not threatened by a patient who wants to have a hand in her own treatment. I was diagnosed last November (2003) and am 48. Unknown to me at the time is the fact that my mom is also hypo.
