Steph,

He wasn't referring to what you're writing as junk. He's referring to the

fact that when you reply, it automatically adds all the replies and such

from the original e-mail. That's the 26 pages of " junk " to which he's

referring. All you need to do when you reply is delete anything below your

reply except for possibly a few sentences from the e-mail to which you're

replying. For people who receive the digest rather than separate e-mails,

it makes it very difficult to read when you have pages and pages of the same

e-mails. He wasn't trying to be rude; he's just trying to be able to more

easily read all the e-mails and the replies.

You just misunderstood. He did not say your message was junk. He said

that you failed to " trim " your message of all the old messages that were

still attached. After you sign your message, use your cursor to

highlight everything that comes after, and then hit delete. What you

send will then be just YOUR message and not all the old stuff, which

just wastes bandwidth.

This is a good netiquette suggestion for everyone.

Well, this new format [if that's what it is] really has me screwed

up. I see that in my message to you I had already edited out the

unnecessary portion at the end and then thought you were the one who had

done it. Sorry I confused who did what; but my message is a good

example of a [MOL] properly edited reply.

I don't think there is much if any moderation here at all. I don't

understand what in my reply she considered so rude; it was simply a

request that she be considerate. I guess a lot of people don't know how

rude it is considered to post unnecessary material in a reply.

As for this new system [if that's what it is] it really has me

Hi, . I was not referring to anything you wrote; I was

referring to the 20 something pages of material that were included in

your message after what you wrote. They had nothing to do with your

reply or your message or what you wrote. It's kind of like if you lived

in a dorm with 20 other people and everyone threw their underwear all in

a pile and you had to dig through all the crap to get what you needed.

Well, lousy example, I guess... What really happens is that everyone on

the list has to dig through an extra 20 or thirty pages of text that

have nothing to do with your message in order to find the gem you left

there in your one page reply. ly, it's considered very rude.

I don't think it's possible to get banned from this list; but I'm not sure.

[ggg] No problem, Edie. As much as I am frustrated by people who

constantly fill up my mail box with junk [and then probably don't even

know they did it] I still sometimes do it myself. It's fairly easy if

the quoted " junk " happens to be below the screen you happen to be typing

on; and you don't even realize it's there.

I just hope that with your replies and the others those who do this kind

of thing all the time can finally figure it out and have the courtesy to

cease. For some I guess it would be a real stretch...

Regards,

7h.

Steph,

He wasn't referring to what you're writing as junk. He's referring

to the

fact that when you reply, it automatically adds all the replies and such

from the original e-mail. That's the 26 pages of " junk " to which he's

referring. All you need to do when you reply is delete anything

below your

reply except for possibly a few sentences from the e-mail to which

you're

replying. For people who receive the digest rather than separate

e-mails,

it makes it very difficult to read when you have pages and pages of

the same

e-mails. He wasn't trying to be rude; he's just trying to be able to

more

easily read all the e-mails and the replies.

Edie

No, I was not referring to your spelling; I was referring to simple

internet etiquette. In other words, simple consideration for all

your fellow list members. Specifically, I was requesting that you

delete the unnecessary material at the end of your post. You

included over 20 pages that had nothing to do with your reply. It's

a real PITA to have to arrow down past a couple of dozen pages that

someone wouldn't bother to delete. I included your entire post [of

which 20 odd pages I would have normally have deleted, as they had

no bearing on my reply] so you would be able to see what I had

reference.

This message to you is properly edited, in that I removed all the

unnecessary " junk " that was in the message.

BTW, I apologize if this comes through more than once. is

playing games with my pc.

Thanks,

Well if you are talking about my spelling. I know it sucks. Otherr

than that these are things that mean something to me and you fell there

pure JUNK. I dont think that is very nice.......But you are a guy and I

think that is why I am into women now!
