Guest guest
OMG, Gracia. I did a search on perchlorate and I am just appalled and very upset! I have never heard of this before...had no freakin' idea! If you look at the map on the link I mentioned, you'll see almost every state is affected. Kentucky is one of the few states which is not. Of course our state is like the second highest in mercury, so I guess we're screwed anyway! I was raised in San Francisco until I was 4 and lived in Indiana most of my childhood. So, I guess I've gotten plenty of this toxin into my body. Plus, I eat TONS of veggies. I guess it doesn't really matter if I buy organic or not now, huh? How can people be so stupid? Here's a link to the website I've been learning about this. I haven't had time to read it all yet, but what I've read so far is enough to convince me that this toxin has probably affected us all. And what it can do to our children...well there's just no sense in this! http://www.scupper.net/neyes/news/articles/wsj_121602_cold_war_fuel_runoff_contr\ oversy.pdf I would copy & paste it but I haven't figured out how to do that when use have to use Adobe to read it. Take care and thanks for the info. Really Irate, Sheila Gracia <circe@...> wrote: Children don't have these choices; after 18 years a lot of damage has been done. I think OB/GYN in this country is the very worst of all, and these poor docs can't identify hypo pregnant women (like I was). If you believe that you should be eating lots of vegetables you may be ingesting thyroid damaging perchlorate. I work in a group home. The RD has the clients on a low fat diet. The only fats allowed are margarine and cool whip. Lots of sugar and refined carbs. (Food pyramid). We need to develop a culture of health which isn't dependent on profit and greed. Food corporations market food which makes us sick so big pharma can then sell us drugs and we can become permanent consumers of the for profit disease care system. Most people want to do what is right for themselves and families. The last person we should blame is the victim.
