Guest guest
Bev, I would suggest you space the Armour and the Cytomel by 6-8 hours. That will help even out the direct T3. You might also try cutting the Cytomel dosage until your system can get used to it. Consequently, every dose results in an effective surge in blood levels. Spacing the meds will help to even that out. My thought is that the headaches might be resulting from too high a peak. Taking T4, with a half-life of about a week, is a much more even source, but it does require efficient conversion. It could also be a sensitivity reaction to other ingredients in the Cytomel. If that is the case, your best alternative is just to increase the Armour. Chuck
Guest guest
Chuck, Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of trial and error with the cytomel... I first day I was on it I took it with my armour at 7:30am and couldn't go back to sleep so I got up and did some things outside for a while before breakfast.. I don't recall having the swelling or the headaches that day.. day 2 I took armour at the same time and woke up swollen in the face and hands and took the cytomel about 2:30pm and got a splitting headhach and after I ate dinner the headache went away after a little while.. The swelling almost went a away but not quite. day 3 took my armour at the same time woke up very swollen and took my cytomel at about 2pm under the tongue. The a milder headache started before I started the cytomel and after it was just awful, until I ate at KFC (chicken livers, ect) and it started to go away.. today I took my armour at 7:30am (like usual) adn took the normal 12.5 mcgs. of cytomel and got to use the bathroom and looked at my face it wasn't that swollen, went back to sleep for 2 hrs. and got up and my face and hands were very swollen.. I'll see if I have a headache this afternoon.. Tomarrow I'm going to take my armour at 7:30am try to get more rest and when I get up and eat breakfast is when I will take the armour this time to see what happens... a guy on another group takes his cytomel with food and does fine... so that's what I'm going to have to try.. and there's more that I have thought of that I can try too. like cut my cytomel even smaller to 6.25 mcg. I'm going to keep trying.. because I can't take any more armour I've tried.. The combination of T4 & T3 is not right for me , it's too much T4 and not enough T3.. so, it's all messed up.. it's going to take a while. Any other thoughts are welcome.. Guest guest
Bev, I found that it didn't matter what thyroid medication I took, each time I started a different one (first T4, then Armour, then T3) I would get a head-ache for about three days as I titrated upwards, just for a while at the beginnng. Regarding the swelling/edema I do tend to agree with Chuck's idea that you simply need to take more. Gail > > HI Chuck, > Thanks for the info.. > So, far today no headache and it's 5:00pm.. Tomarrow I'm going to take the cytomel with my breakfast (instead of taking it with armour) to see if that helps with the swelling and if it does I'm going to wait until this Sat. to increase the dose. If it doesn't help I will increase the dose on Thurs. And I'll go from there.. So, I will keep you posted and maybe you might have more thoughts.... > thanks > Bev > > >
